I had to take my glucose test early, (16w5d) and failed with a number of 148. Womp! Now I have to do the 3hr test on Monday and am legitimately concerned I'm not going to be able to finish it without getting really ill. I can't go more than a couple hours without eating without getting sick, and have always been super sensitive to sugar so an empty stomach +glucola....
Essentially- whine whine, wah wah
Has anyone else had to do the GTT early? My search of the board didn't pull anything up... if so, come! Commiserate with me!
PCOS- finally pregnant after 3 years of IF treatment, including 4 failed IUI.
Lucky IUI #5 currently growing in my belly!
Re: AW: 1 hr glucose test
Hoping your testing goes well! Maybe talk with your doctor/midwife and see if they have any recommendations.
It's no fun, but it's workable! And we are all here for each other to vent and trade recipes and thoughts. The three hour test sucks and you just have to soldier through it. I didn't do so bad as far as reaction this time around (even though my numbers bombed). My first pregnancy I passed out when I stood up to get my last blood draw done.
Hopefully you will pass but if you don't, don't despair! You can do this.
P.S. Aside from all my positivity, I. Just. Want. Some. Fucking. Cake. Lots of it.
I had to take the 1 hr and 3 hr with DS and failed misreably. If I had known my 1 hr numbers I wouldn't have even bothered with the 3 hr. Had to take the 1 hr at week 8 due to the past history and passed with flying colors.
I'll take the 1 hr again at about 28 weeks I think is when my OB does it and I'll find out my numbers this time before I go through with the 3hr. I haven't had a woozey or other reaction other than the stuff tastes horrible and all I want to do is brush my teeth after I take it.
GL! Having GD sucks, but knowing about it is better than not, and if you have it you have it, there is no way to "trick" and pass the test, and you wouldn't want that anyway.
The test isn't too bad. The stuff tastes awful and you have to chug it. Bring lots of things to do. Books knitting etc. it's boring and they don't like you to leave the waiting room.
I have PCOS and am already diagnosed insulin resistant (my ob knows this. That's why I'm testing early) so it sounds like my odds aren't good for an easy/uneventful test. Womp.
I will definitely make sure to bring snacks with me for after. I didn't even think about that, but it's a genius idea!
I don't mind having to go on the gd diet, especially to keep baby healthy! So I'd almost rather do that and finger pricks than the 3hr.
