Will you use a baby monitor? I thought a baby monitor was a standard every day product when having a baby. Turns out they seem to be so controversial. My friendship group is so pro or so anti monitors. Most anti saying you jut get up or listen out.
I've been given the angel care with the pads but friends are saying they wouldn't even use the sound monitor

Definitely getting a video monitor of some sort (maybe something that has a phone app). Our house isn't large, but I'd rather be able to see on a monitor whether the baby is breathing and/or sleeping than risk waking him/her up by walking in.
Also, I plan to use it when we travel and visit the in-laws. A sound monitor would probably work just as well, but I think I'm going to be a crazy FTM who needs to constantly make sure the baby is breathing so I'm going for the upgrade.

I can't understand people not using a monitor unless you leave doors open and can hear baby from your room. I use it even for my toddler because I like to have his door closed so that he sleeps better.

It was also helpful for marathon naps/sleeping in during those early days. When you worry that maybe something happened. You could look at the video monitor and see the rise and fall of the chest and know he was just asleep.

It was useful for my DH since I occasionally travel overnight for work. My DH can sleep through a bomb going off so without a monitor with volume control he'd never wake up to LO crying!
