Baby #4 is due this week. Right now, we have all three kids in the middle row and have liked that. Was thinking we'd need to remove the driver's side middle seat for access to the back. Then we'd have 2 kids in the middle, and 2 in back. Baby in the middle along with...the 2 year old? Or would it be better to put the 4 year old there so he can help pass her things? The 6 year old and...which? 4 or 2 year old? in the back? Can anyone help with this? TIA!
Re: RP from SAHM: Arranging 4 kids in Honda Odyssey
I have my older two in the back, and the baby and the 2 year old in the middle row. Same reason as the above posters...the older two can buckle themselves.
We also took out the middle seat in the second row for access to the back.
If the oldest two can buckle themselves, or if the 4 year old can at least climb in the seat and get situated by himself, I would set it up so that you can open ONE door (the door that has open space), have the four year old climb into the middle row far seat and the 6 year old climb into the back row far seat, put the baby bucket in the middle row, closer seat, and the two year old will then be easy to help into the third row close seat, since there will be open space in front of him. Also, if you do it that way you have the open space as a bit of a landing pad to put down your purse/diaper bag, get coats on/off in bad weather, set the baby bucket down for a minute to get a better grip, etc. From there if you need to finish strapping your four year old you can just do that from the driver's seat after you hop in, and you avoid having to walk around to a second door.
