I have to brag on my hubby

Yesterday I was craving cake like crazy. So after hubby's basketball league was over, he went to the store and bought ingredients to bake me a cake. Maybe it's the hormones, but I find this to be the sweetest thing ever. He could have just picked up one from the bakery, but he wanted to make me one homemade.

I am totally having cake for breakfast. No shame!

Also I would love to hear sweet things someone has done for you since becoming prego. Doesn't have to be a SO. Could be a family member, friend, co-worker, complete stranger, etc...

DH has been really good about DEMANDING that I take breaks to step away from the chaos at home and rest. If he offers, I usually won't take him up on it (my personality...), but he knows that if he doesn't give me any other choice, it works. I really, really appreciate it. I've been sick over and over this pregnancy (severe cold, stomach flu, another sever cold....), so I don't feel like I've ever been anywhere near 100% -- or what 100% while pregnant could be. Chasing after two toddlers makes it downright impossible...

Awh! It's so awesome that he makes you step away and rest. Sounds like you have a wonderful hubby!

Aw I love hearing about these. I was maternity clothes shopping all day Saturday and when I came home, DH had sanitized the kitchen floor, did a deep cleaning on both full bathrooms, and had all the dishes done. I almost cried...

Gotta love a man that cleans! I would have fainted if my husband did that. He rarely takes his dinner plate to the sink!
  • Aww that's sweet!

Dh has been amazing, he knows I haven't been feeling well and has been picking up the slack for me. He's even gone to pick up my favorite food before coming home from work. He did a lot of that last week. I don't know what I would do without him, he has helped so much and is awesome with dd.

aw I love these! Mine let me sleep in every day that he was off work and didn't even judge when I had a nap three hours later. also he cleaned the kitchen after supper every night and let me go have a bath to soothe my rlp :)

    This sounds heavenly!!!
  • I just have to chime in to say that my BF is generally pretty excellent with the cleaning, especially the dishes (even when I wasn't pregnant!). I've gotta say, he's a sensitive, supportive, and patient guy overall and I'm realy quite lucky to have him. It's so nice to know how true that is, and that he's going to make a great dad. :)

@ohkay that cake looks like a fine breakfast. That is a super sweet gesture on the part of your husband.

  • What a great thread! Sounds like a lot of you ladies have awesome hubs too! Last night I HAD to have an oil and vinigar salad and fresh fruit so DH happily came with me to go buy some lettuce and fruits despite the fact we hadn't showered or changed out of our PJs in 2 days. After dinner we were finishing a TV show before bed and he gently lays his hand on my belly. Even though I'm not feeling anything other than gas yet I thought it was the sweetest thing ever! I think now that we know she's a she it feels a little more real for DH :)
  • Mine goes up north for two weeks at a time but when he is home he usually makes me breakfast in bed and does whatever he can to keep me comfortable and happy! Best hubby ever.
  • DH is very caring and insists I take naps before we go out anywhere. Besides that, I honestly have not cooked once since becoming pregnant. Both mothers completely took over the food in my house, and I have a delivery of fresh, homemade goodies almost daily. As a matter of fact, MIL is coming over any moment...with "something for us" I feel so blessed to be a part of such supportive family. Also my close friend, who is very in tune with other's energy, calls me periodically when she feels I am struggling emotionally, and reassures that everything will be all right, and just provides an ear, eager to listen to my crazy preggo bs.

  •  From washing the dishess to changing the cat litter even cooking dinner... and getting up in middle of the night to make me peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches. my husband has been very understanding and very very helpful. that makes me fall in love with him even more!!

  • My husband runs to the store every time (usually once a day) that I decide I can't possibly eat anything we have in the house.

He also spent a half hour calling different ice cream places on NYE to see if they were still open and had soft serve.  We didn't actually get ice cream but the effort totally made it okay.

  • My DH has done everything, from laundry( wash and fold) , packing for our move, dishes, meals, cleaning. He is so attentive to make sure I'm resting and not over exerting myself. It's really sweet. :)
  • Mine has been really good (up until this past week) with helping around the house. I was on pelvic rest with no heavy lifting early on. At that time he picked up doing the laundry for me so I didn't have to carry the laundry baskets up and down the stairs and he's kept it up since. Then he stepped it up to even vacuum and mop the floors throughout the whole house for me around Christmas. However, I think he's getting tired of chores is a bit disenchanted now so is grumbling more about me doing more again...
  • DH ran out last night at close to 9pm to get me Taco Bell.

    I mean...that right there.

  • My hubby has been amazing. He has kept the house up, cooked supper and taken care of everything so I can rest since my fatigue and nausea has hit full force. I was laid up in bed all day yesterday feeling horrible. I was craving a baked potato last night and he made one and brought me a Sprite. To him it wasn't much, but it meant a lot to me. :)
  • Oh I love reading about all the sweet husbands in this thread! Mine has done a great job of taking care of me and taking on more of the work.

The smart ones figure out that they can feel like they're taking an active part in the pregnancy by helping out Mama! :)

  • My DH had been wonderful! He knows that I have been extremely tired with carrying these twins so on the days I work he makes sure dinner is ready when I get home and our toddler is fed and settled. He does this after a long day of working himself and it makes me appreciate him so much! He even stops ne way home from work to make sure he can fix my favorite foods! He is wonderful!
  • It makes me so happy to read about all these supportive partners! :)

My husband has been very sweet since my pregnancy began. He has taken over most of the cooking and cleaning, and has made many trips to pick me up whatever I'm craving (or meals, if I can't stand the thought of eating anything in the house). It has made me really appreciate what a sweet guy he is. He gets so excited thinking about the baby, it always warms my heart!

  • Love all the stories!

I have a midwife appt this week and it's a 4hr drive one way, so I decided to spend the night in town rather than drive 8hrs in one day. Well, DH knows I desperately need a break since I'm working lots, chasing the toddler, constantly sick with some virus or another, and just exhaustion. He got me a pre-natal massage and manicure for me when I get there :) he never does things like this so it's extra sweet. I'm so excited!

  • This is such a sweet thread, I feel like we should show this to our men so they see the bragging. Plus that really encourages repeat good behavior :)

My DH only cooks eggs and peanut butter and jelly...since I've been pregnant he has learned to make 3 simple meals. He offers to cook all the time even though he has no idea what he is doing its so appreciated especially when I'm feeling sick or just tired. I'm not allowed to lift more than 10 lbs so he is really strict about that and carries all the laundry and comes food shopping and I just point. I miss being able to do everything myself but he has been so helpful. These guys all sound like the makings of good daddies.
  • Sounds like we all have some amazing SOs that we should be very grateful for. :)

My DH has also stepped up to the board- dishes, laundry, kitty litter duties, breakfast almost every day before work and helps me make dinner. He says he wants to learn how to cook now so he can make my favorites once baby comes. Makes me appreciate him even more.
  • My DH has been absolutely amazing. He's completely taken over the household chores (dishes, laundry, etc), fills my gas tank so I don't get sick from the smell, runs to the grocery store if I feel like I can stomach anything in particular, etc. I knew I had an amazing husband... Now I know even more :)
  • My hubby does all the cooking and cleaning. All the time, not just when im pregnant. And coworkers always want to see my lunches because he is a really good cook!!

He is also currently bathing both kids while I "rest" before bedtime :)
  • My DH has also jumped on the "amazing train". He refuses to let me carry anything heavy and since I'm always tired carrying these twins he rubs my feet every night. On top of that... Today was the first day back to school after winter break and he baked me homemade chocolate chip cookies!! Now, my poor DH couldn't cook or bake himself out of a box, but he really tried. AND my whole house smells like cookies. Even better.

  • My SO has made sure I have a full tank of gas in my car, and warmed it up and scraped ice and snow for me every morning since the weather has been bad. We try to do something kind for each other every day. He has been awesome since we first got together, I must admit!
  • This is such an amazing post. You all have great family members and hubbys. My whole family has been super excited for our baby, especially my mom and sisters as this is their first grand baby/niece or newphew. So for Christmas this year my sister crocheted the cutest elephant by hand but before she sowed it all up my mom put her favorite necklace which just so happen to be a heart in the middle of the elephants chest n my sisters put in a letter with well wishes inside. It was the cutest thing ever. Then my husband name it "Elephfun". Baby first stuffed animal. Over whelmed with happiness.
  • DH has been amazing. He has taken over laundry, dishes, and cat food (I gag when I smell it). He has done well in his attempts to take over cooking (okay, so mac n cheese isn't that hard, but it counts!).  And he always gets me water/drinks/snacks and anything else I need. My favorite thing though, is how excited he gets over the new fruit of the week. He went and bought peaches this week because I told him baby is now the size of a peach! So cute  :x
  • In addition to the hundreds of sweet and helpful gestures he's made over the past couple months - It's currently negative 12 degrees and very icy outside. My husband scraped off all the ice and snow on my car before he left for work at 5:45am. I feel like a princess.
