2nd Trimester

where does the bump come first on your belly?

Above your belly button or below your belly button.?

I noticed below my belly button is getting harder, if that makes sense.

Sorry if this is a dumb Question.  I am 13 weeks and not a small girl so I know it will take longer.  I also have not gained weight due to m/s still.

Re: where does the bump come first on your belly?

  • oh my...  your uterus starts poking out from behind your pelvis at about 12 weeks, so below your belly button... as the weeks progress the top of your uterus moves up.  by 20 weeks the top of it is about equivalent with your belly button.  Then it moves up a little each week until the end of your pregnancy. SO your bump should start low and move up a bit- however we all round out differently.  That is just uterus location, but everyone's body responds to pregnancy differently.

  • thank you that is pretty much what I thought!
  • Good explanation, CarlyBella! =) For the OP, the first thing I noticed was that my lower abdomen started to feel firmer, way before there were any visible changes. As CB mentioned, the top of your uterus moves up as baby grows. I'm almost 21 weeks and just now starting to 'round out' a little bit and have just gotten a 'bump' in the last couple of weeks.

  • The first thing that popped for my was under my belly button, right where my underwear sits. Its weird, I know... But that's what I noticed.
  • The upper portion of my stomach.. where my ribs and stuff are under my boobs got hard first and it makes me think of a ski slope that starts the formation of my soon to be round bump rather than pudgy bump. Your actual bump will come up from below your belly button first though like PP said.
  • Below the bellly button... as as you get further along it moves up your stomach and fills in lik e a balloon being blown up.

You have a long way to go though. Im at 18 1/2w and still have much of nothing.
