Anyone use one of those seven sling things?

A friend of mine gave me one and I can't tell if I'm wearing it right, or if the thing is really just made/fitting weird. I'd like to use it, at least around the house, to get some things done. DH has a very bad back, and if Pips is fussy, it's hard for him to get up and down over and over depending what she feels like at that exact moment. If I could wear her for a bit, i might get a few more things done around the house and he could rest.

I did put her in it today while picking up the nursery, but it just didn't seem to fit right. Where Pips' head was seemed awfully loose and I ended up holding her whenever I bent over because it felt a bit as though she'd topple out. So, anyone had any experience with this thing? It seems so easy just looking at it, am I over thinking it?

Re: Anyone use one of those seven sling things?

  • I have and I just didnt feel it was secure enough. I dont use it. I bought a moby.

  • I am in multiple baby wearing groups and most of them say the sling is difficult because you can't tighten or loosen it. If you Want a wrap that will work I'd suggest checking out the ring slings with the actual rings or Boba wrap Moby wrap.
  • I have a seven that I use when we go out sometimes. The baggy part, near the seven tag is meant for their bottoms. Just make sure that's where their butt is and you should be good. I also have the moby wrap. I like being able to adjust it tighter but the seven works well while she's still small. HTH!

  • Thanks everyone for the info.

@kegcrc it is just a loop of non-stretchy fabric, with one part 'dished' for babies bum. It's not adjustable, which is why it fits weird >>> Www.sevenslings.com

@angelal814 thanks for the tip. I'm gonna give it another try when Pips wakes up. Since it was a gift, and I don't need to wear her often, I was hoping not to have to buy something else, so I'll just cross my fingers and hope it works for us.

  • @kegcrc‌ - baby is totally a good age to wear in a sling but you want to make sure you are wearing him correctly. It's super easy! Google hip and front carries. YouTube has tons of help.

  • I had one and didn't like it at all. I just took it to Goodwill the other day.
  • Well, I just got done trying to put on some make-up while using the seven sling. It went better today, but it was still weird feeling. Not exactly unsafe, but oddly tight where being looser, or at least more forgiving, would have made her more comfortable. There was a straight jacket quality to part of it. Put it was too loose, or too much fabric, in other parts. We made do, and I can see this being easier to use when she's older and more upright, but at the moment, I think we will put it on the shelf and either find something better, or do with out. Thanks again everyone!

  • I have one but haven't used it yet. I asked my FB babywearing group about it and the only positive responses I got were for hip carries, which LO is way too young for. Everyone else hated the Seven Sling. I'll hang onto it for a few more months but if it's not useful by the time she can sit up, I'm tossing it.
