I am on crinone twice a day since my body is not producing enough progesterone. I went to take my nightly dose and noticed that all the applicators in the bag I picked up from CVS on Friday are all expired, some 10/14, 11/14, and 12/14. I used one dose Friday night (not sure which month it expired), yesterday and this morning I used the last 3 doses up from my previous fill.
I called the pharmacy and they put me on hold and checked - all their doses on the shelf are also expired so they have to order it in and don't expect it until Tuesday. He told me, "don't worry, it won't harm you, it's just not effective." I explained I need it to be effective to sustain my pregnancy. He must have been a tech and escalated me to the pharmacist who told me just to take what I have because it "might" still work and then they will replace new ones for me on Tuesday. I told him might is not good enough and I can't risk missing 4 effective doses (one tonight, both tomorrow and Tuesday morning) and asked him to call around to see where I could get some tomorrow morning. He acted really bothered and said he would call me back.
I am so angry - neither of them apologized or even attempted to sympathize. On top of being angry I am also freaking out about losing the baby. This is my first pregnancy and we have been TTC for 4 years and used IVF to get pregnant. I went ahead and used a 12/14 applicator for tonight and will also for tomorrow morning but I feel like they need to call around to other pharmacies and get the medicine in to correct their mistake ASAP tomorrow.

Re: Freaking out - expired medication
My pharmacy didn't have the needles for my PIO & it was like pulling teeth finding one that bad them in stock because I was completely out!
I'd let the RE know what's going on & see if they can contact another pharmacy or maybe see if they had any donated or any samples. My RE had elestrin gel samples. Worth a shot! Best of luck!
I also would not use that pharmacy in the future, and might consider contacting the powers that be concerning pharmacies. They are not supposed to dispense expired meds, and since they have done nothing to help you get non-expired meds, repercussions may be in order.
I'm so sorry you're having to go through this!
