Hi ladies. I am wanting to get a mobile for my dd's crib to help her(fingers crossed) fall asleep on her own instead of me rocking her to sleep every single time. What have yall found to be the best?
I would think a mobile would be hard to see in the dark. And even if it can be seen, it might be distracting. In the meantime, I would just keep on rocking and start researching sleep training methods to see which might be the best fit for you and your lo, and when.
I just bought FP Precious Planet in hopes of the same thing. It's a projector too and that part can be used with older babies and toddlers. Haven't set it up yet, but I'll return and update once I get it going.
I hate my mobile. It keeps her attention until the music stops, then she screams. It plays twinkle twinkle little star, but one of the notes mysteriously disappeared so it skips parts of the song. Drives me nuts. This is also the second one we purchased. The first one sounded like a herd of dying cats. Long story short, do not buy the Jungle Jill Mobile by Carters.
But I'm also with PP in thinking a mobile won't solve your problems at all. I've yet to see DD fall asleep to her (albeit possessed) mobile. In fact it seems to hold her attention and keeps her awake as she coos at it. I only use it because the song seems to last long enough for me to get some laundry going but that's it.
I LOVE her gentle giraffe white noise sound machine. We use it every night and I don't think she would go to sleep without it at this point. Plays like 4 different white noise/music. And it shuts off automatically after half an hour.
We have a tiny love take along mobile that has 30 min auto shut off. We move it from crib to changing table and he loves it. DS1 loved his fisher price aquarium and we didn't have to ditch that till he was climbing.
I just wanna second the sleep sheep. That thing is freaking magical. We also have this vtech thingy that has dancing lights and a projector on it. We have the volume cranked down on it so she hears her sleep sheep but falls alseep with the dancing lights. I like that thing because it detects her fussing and starts up on it's own.. so a lot of times we'll hear her thingy go off, but by the time we get in to check her the lights have usually captivated her.. and she usually falls back asleep from there.
Thank ladies. I actually got her a Tiny Loves Nature mobile for Christmas, but it's been making this ticking sound and when I looked at reviews many people said that. So, I wanted to know if there was a better one out there. I can understand the people that are saying not to get one, yall make a very valid point. We already do have a sound machine in her room, so I was just seeing if there were other options out there.
I have the Fisher Price- Rainforest Waterfall Soother and my son loves it. It isn't a mobile, it straps on to the crib and plays music and moves for 8min or just lights up and plays music for 12 Min or just plays music for I think 18min. I use the 12 min setting and DS usually is asleep by the time it's done. I turn it on before I set him in his crib so the sudden light change doesn't wake him up. Also when they get older they can press the button themselves to turn it on. You can get it at Walmart.com just put the name in the search section of the baby department and it should come right up its about $42.

Not a mobile but we love the baby Einstein sea creatures soother.
I have the same one and it has been great. At first I wasn't so sure about it and thought we should go for the traditional mobile but it works great! I usually do the music with no lights for bedtime but if I need to put him down in his crib to do something the light show keeps him entertained.
