I thought it would be interesting to hear everyone's response to this.
I know some of you, like me, sat watching the ball drop thinking about how next NYE you will have an 8 month month old crawling around (or maybe fast asleep). Then my SO started talking about what we thought and hoped our lives would look like New Years next year. We know we will be in the same place as we just moved and he pictured the baby standing up by the TV holding herself up on the TV Stand dancing to the music lol it was a really sweet image We hope to both have different jobs and hopefully a much fuller savings account on our way to buying a house. I don't think for us this year will bring marriage despite pressures from the families (we just don't GAF what their opinion of our situation is) but who knows! It's actually a little overwhelming to think of everything that we want to accomplish in the next year lol
So what about you guys? Where do you see yourselves in the New Year next year? New house? New job? Maybe marriage for you? Maybe some of us might be pregnant again...
March 15' January Siggy Callenge: Animals Being Jerks
Hopefully in a new house, a finished masters degree, a new job for me, a flush savings account, and maybe a new little one brewing? We want number 2 fairly soon after this one.
I hope to feel complete. I have always only wanted 2 kids, one of each. I will have that in March, but I am having a hard time getting rid of some of the girl stuff. I am afraid I still want more kids, or maybe it is just laziness. I would like to have some more updates done to our house so we can look at selling and getting something a bit bigger.
This time next year I would think that the marriage thing *may* happen (we're engaged) but maybe not that soon. We'll be looking to move in to a new house in about a year so that would probably just happen. I'm hoping that my sister will be moving out to her own place around then as well.
We should both have the same jobs but most of our debt is almost gone so hopefully our savings will be a bit bigger.
I'm thinking same house and job, but home a lot more, cooking a lot more (we eat out way too much), and better about budgeting so even though we will have two infants in daycare, we will be saving more and closer to being debt free. I would eventually like to quit my job and only sub on husbands days off, but I have at least one full school year left until we can afford that.
I'm hoping to be starting an RN job ideally in the fall or early winter next year after spending some time at home with my kiddos. We also plan to move so hopefully we can find a decent rental for at least a year.
I can't wait to watch this LO and DS grow and hopefully learn to love each other
We are hoping to make some needed repairs/upgrades and then sell our condo in 2015. Then we will rent a place while we look for a house that we both love and can live in for awhile. The thought of having our own washer & dryer vs. a laundry room is enough to get me excited (it's the little things!). I also have plans to put some feelers out for a new job this year.
We had a lot of changes this past year. I started a new business, H has a new job. By next Christmas/New Year baby should be old enough that he and my daughter will hopefully be good little playmates. I am also hoping that by next Christmas/New Years we may have another baby on the way! H and I were just chatting about this today. Another would be our #3 and likely our last. Fun question and nice to think about!
Were we are today. With 3 kids, married, in our house, me staying at home, hope we have more money, and can go on the family vacation that I want to take.
Littlekeller, I know exactly how you feel. I also only saw myself with two kids, but my husband had talked me into trying for a third had this baby been another girl. He turned out to be a boy, but now I am not sure if we really are done. I like the idea of three kids, but I don't know. Next year I hope to be in my same job, hopefully my husband is a year closer to his degree and we can get a babysitter for NYE, because chasing after an overtired toddler was exhausting, can't imagine two of them! Lol
Love this! Well we just moved into our new house but we did Reno it so there are a few things that still need to get done. Hopefully everything will be complete by next year.
SO and I are engaged so hopefully well be married by next year although we have been super lazy about doing any planning for it.
I'll be one year closer to graduating college!
Most importantly I am looking forward to having this little girl here and seeing our family all together.
I love this thread. It really got my DH and I thinking. I will hopefully be doing well in my second year of law school. In the same house (we bought this house in November). Hopefully we can build a fence and I can get some kind of part time clerking job to help out with the bills.
Not much of a change, with two little guy's sleeping upstairs instead of one! Would love to be closer to buying a new home & have expanded my business more.
Not much will change in the year for us, other then having two kids instead of one. I hope to do some improvements around our home. And get out back yard ready for summer. Would love to pay of some debt and start saving for a big family trip for 2016.
My goal for next New Years is to have a babysitter so we can go out for once! Hopefully we'll be in a better financial situation, and just getting used to having two kids around the house. This year we bought a house, and DH started a new job at the end of last year, so I'm hoping we can become more stable in the next year.
H and I have been talking about how next Christmas/NYE we will have a 9 month old and a 3 year old. I am definitely more freaked out over having a 3 year old but I can't stop imagining how great of a big brother my son will be. It's all we ever talk about and can't wait to see him in his new role.
I don't expect our lives to change at all by this time next year except for the additional baby but we will be starting to look for a new house to hopefully move by September.
What a FUN thing to think about! DH and I have been looking for the right home to purchase - but haven't found anything yet we LOVE enough. His work territory is large enough we have MANY cities around here we can move. So #1 (other than baby) is a home of our own.
#2 is my job. I'm not 100% happy with how things are going right now, so I am hoping to see some changes there - although I'm not 100% sure what that means yet.
H and I have already discussed a vacation this time next year. We want to just take a week or two with the baby in a cabin or villa near a beach to just get away from everything. We had a pretty crummy round of holidays this year, and we just decided to focus on our own small family next year. I am hoping to be in the same job, working a little bit different hours. Steady hours. H will be done with his phd by then, and I am hoping(and praying) his company is successful.
Hmm, next year. NYE will probably be much of the same - hanging out at home. Hopefully we will be closer to putting our house up for sale and moving to our preferred neighborhoods. The job thing is a question mark. I may be looking for a new job at this time next year, but it's not totally clear. Definitely not pregnant again; too soon!
First and for most i hope all my family is healthy around this time next year. Then i would love to actually finish my collage classes and get me a job to help with the bills. I love being a SAHM, but boy i would love to get out of the house more by my self even if it is to work. I want to get our debt payed off and actually stay out of it. As for the NYE i would love to be at Disney World with my hubby and kids on our family vacation!!!..
I just hope we are happy and healthy. I would like to get back into my yoga practice and hang curtains in the house. Other than that - if we keep on our current track I will be perfectly happy. The past 2-3 years were pretty rough for both of us (job, health, and family-wise) and just want to keep moving forward without any big changes or plans - other than the little boy we will be meeting soon.
I am seriously debating if I want to try to get pregnant again. I am fortunate to have a few frozen blasts from our last ivf cycle. Not sure how soon after this baby I would be willing to go for it again. It is such an emotional process. Wondering when I'll be ready again.
Aside from that, save for retirement.
Plan our next adventure to either a) Italy or b) Egypt. We've been talking about this for way too long.
Hopefully feel secure as a working mom that I am doing a good job at work and at home.
Great question... Looking back on this year - we bought a house, dealt with a tax audit and insurance screw-over, DH started a new job and I changed positions at mine, we witnessed a crime and got subpoenaed to testify, my dad had a heart attack and battled cancer, we each lost a grandparent, and I got pregnant and had a nervous breakdown. I hope and pray that this coming year is less eventful, at least in all the stressful ways!
This time next year, DH will be entering the third year of his apprenticeship and I will be preparing to go back to work. Hopefully we will have managed to accomplish some projects around the house, pay off some debt, and save up for a family trip to the Oregon Coast in 2016.
I visited with a couple of old friends who were home for the holidays and each happened to have babies the same age as ours will be next December. So fun to get a preview of that stage and how much fun it will be as a first Christmas!
Married the most patient man on the planet: May 16, 2009 Me: 30; DH: 30 BFP: June 25, 2014; EDD: March 9/10, 2015 4 fur babies: 2 dogs & 2 cats
I'm really looking forward to this year and watching our little family grow! By next year I'm hoping to be pregnant again honestly. I'd like to be a SAHM so we'll see I think we'll be making that decision around September so we'll be working on budgeting which we've never been good at before. I really just want to enjoy 2015 and hope for everyone to be healthy & happy.
Married the love of my life June 18, 2011 -- Me (28) DH (29)
Definitely looking forward to LO being here and I think that will change our lives enough for this year! I plan on being in the same job next year, but I will be done with my MBA in the fall so we will see where that takes me. Other than that, paying off debt and saving up for a house.
2014 was very hectic for us. The two lingering things that hadn't been accomplished were H getting officially transferred to NJ and H finding a steady job here once he's transferred.
I'd like to work on doing some repairs to the inside of the house. H wants to work on the back yard.
Our other big thing is to stick more closely to our budget, eat out less, and save!
Re: Where Do You See Yourself Next Year?
I would like to have some more updates done to our house so we can look at selling and getting something a bit bigger.
We should both have the same jobs but most of our debt is almost gone so hopefully our savings will be a bit bigger.
I also want to have lost about 50 lbs.
And I'm REALLY excited about LO's first Christmas
I can't wait to watch this LO and DS grow and hopefully learn to love each other
SO and I are engaged so hopefully well be married by next year although we have been super lazy about doing any planning for it.
