Labetalol Side Effects

Hi! Anyone have experience with labetalol - how long does it take for your body to get used to it and the side effects to go away? I am on them for post partum preeclampsia....hopefully able to get off of them soon as they give me side effects. I am 4 weeks post partum.

    If you're still having issues, they probably won't stop. Also, if you've had the baby and you're not breastfeeding, there are a ton better drugs. Both kiddos, I spiked a high BP right after having them. It recovered and went away within 3 mos after the baby was born. Good luck!

    Your Dr. might not want to switch you to something else since you've already been on it for a while and most cases of pp hb resolve after three months or so, I was on labetalol for 2 months post partum and really hated the side effects, but was able to stop taking it after 6 weeks or so. It wouldn't hurt to ask if they can switch you to something else if you're not breastfeeding. I feel your pain, it was so hard to function with a newborn on that stuff...

    I was put on labeltalol by first on ob and had the creepy crawly scalp then new ob put me on methyldopa which I am doing better on but I guess it depends on what the doc thinks u will do better on

    I had the creepy crawly scalp after delivery too! And finally confirmed it as a side effect online. Fortunately I was off of it pretty quickly after delivery. I monitored my blood pressure and promised my doctor I would call if it went over a certain amount. Fingers crossed you are off of it soon!!
