@Joy1192 you got me thinking about this subject. I am very quick to post new pics of LO but should I change that? For people who don't post, what are your reasons? Sorry if this is a dumb question!
I don't post because my mother didn't post pics of me I had my privacy as a child and I'd like her to have the same. Plus there are bad people out there even if you're profile is locked up tight. Idk I could possibly be paranoid but that's just my reasoning.
I voted SS. I have posted 4 pictures on Facebook/Instagram of DD. Two when she was born, one at Christmas, and one at New Years. Even with locked down accounts and security settings I still get the willies that someone could take them and whatever with them. Maybe I am being very momma bear here, but when DD is older and freely decides to post pictures online that is fine, until then I text pictures to family and friends. I want it to be her decision what gets put out on social media.
I post tons of pics of LO on FB because we have a lot of extended family and friends who live far away and they love it. I am wary of posting them here though even though I would love to show him off.
I voted SS. for all our out of town loved ones, we created a photo bucket album that is password protected and we usually upload a photo every day. On Instagram and Facebook we post every now and then - I think 5 photos total since he's been born. My husband didn't want us to post any, for the same reasons a poster above outlined, but we compromised. As he gets older and past the baby stage, we'll stop altogether with social media.

I post pictures of both my kids in a private IG account. I try not to post anything that would embarrass them in the future. I would never judge someone for posting pictures of their LO publicly, it just isn't for me. We all have different comfort levels and social media has made it easy to share with our family and friends. At the same point, it makes it easy for creepies to get their hands on my children's pictures as well. I try not to be paranoid but I refuse to be naive to the fact that there are some bad people out there.
I said SS. We do share pics on facebook, but my account is friends only (and every once in awhile I try to clean up my friends list), and we try to limit how many photos we post. We don't post as many as most our friends do of their babies, but sometimes with really cute pictures we just can't help it.
I rarely post and do so more on IG since it's a smaller friends list and I like to tag the etsy shops I support. I hate when others post pictures more. It just seems like over stepping to post a pic of a baby that isn't yours, but I grudgingly overlook it because it's a tough subject to broach without being melodramatic.
I don't want others to post pics of my baby either. I don't even like it when they share a photo that DH or I have posted, but luckily, our settings will still only allow our friends to see the picture even if someone else shares it. So, joke's on them, and their friends can't see it. My sister did save a picture and share it that way a couple of times, but as long as she doesn't make a habit it out of it, I'll let it slide.
I said SS. I share on Facebook, but not very much, particularly when compared to others. I have a few FB friends who overshare and it bugs me. Two people, including my SIL, recently shared potty-training pics of their daughters on the toilet! UGH!
I also have my settings set so that my MIL and GMIL cannot see most things I post. They tend to overshare themselves, or use the info/pictures to talk about us behind our backs, particularly MIL does this. She likes to pretend that she knows what is going on in our lives even though we purposely avoid giving her info, so I limit her on just about everything.
I post pictures pretty freely. Nothing embarrassing. I guess I just don't really get the fear someone will steal the photo. What would they do with it?

I post a limited amount on my Facebook page and on Instagram. I posted one picture of her in the NICU in just a diaper, mostly to update concerned friends and family. Other than that, I would never share a picture of her online if she was not fully clothed, and I try to make sure the pictures are flattering of her. I probably post one picture a month on Facebook, usually when I take her monthly sticker picture. I have family that lives far away, and that is the most convenient way for some of them to stay updated.
My settings are pretty private, but I still limit the number of pictures mostly to protect her privacy. We didn't grow up with our baby pics all over Facebook, so we really have no idea how it will affect them later on. As PP's said, I really don't feel comfortable when other's post pictures of her. Both my mom and MIL have done it once, but they haven't done it since, so I haven't said anything.
I post a few on facebook, maybe a couple times a month, and I'd never do embarrassing or naked photos. All our pics go up on Blink Buggy, (blinkbuggy.com) where you have complete privacy control - I highly recommend it! It's like an online baby book, and you can share only with select family and friends. DH is the official curator/uploader of the photos.

I post a photo of him once a week or once every couple of weeks. Or family pics when we are out doing stuff.
I'm private on FB. I don't worry about it much. Sometimes I think I should, but meh. I wouldn't care if my mom had posted baby pics of me every day (if she had the technology back then).
My kid might feel differently, but I suppose I'll figure it out along the way.
I post on IG and on FB. I have a lot of family out of state and all of my stuff is private and you can't see unless we are friend or I accept you. Don't get me wrong I know people can somehow get around that. I never post anything "embarrassing". I rarely post on here, just a picture here and there.
Thanks everyone for your stance on the subject. I really need to go through my Facebook friends and purge some people I don't know very well. I also need to revisit my privacy settings. Recently I fixed my Instagram account to private but now I don't know how to get rid of some people. Does anyone know how?

I think you have to block them because even if you stop following them they are still following you.
I post pictures of LO on FB. Not a huge amount but atleast once every 2 weeks. I have it on friends only setting and it also gives my family who live in Europe the opportunity to see him growing up.
I won't be posting any pictures of him on TB however.

I post pictures on FB, I enjoy sharing my life and family with my FB friends who look at my pictures and many live away from us. I have my profile set to private.....but is anything really private once it has been posted on the internet?
I have a background in IT, so I don't trust the privacy settings anywhere. I only put things on the web if it's safe for the whole world to know. That means I remove the GPS information from any photo before I upload it anywhere. I also don't put our plans out. I also try not to put a lot of personal info about the kids. I don't want a stranger to use that info to convince them he's someone safe.
