My husband and I just moved to our current location about 7 months ago so I've yet to get an obgyn. I have a regular physician and the medical center they are at has specialists, including an obgyn. I was originally planning on making an appointment there, but I'm a bit confused.
Is it necessary that the obgyn you make your first appointment at be the obstetrician you use for the next 8 months and for labor? Should I find an obgyn at a hospital that I like (we have a great hospital near our home)?
Any wisdom is appreciated!

You can change at any time, but it would be best to have the same doctor throughout (provided that you like them). I would do a little research on what doctors/hospitals take your insurance, are close to you, etc.
I agree that it would be ideal to find a doctor you would like to see throughout your pregnancy. Of course, if you end up changing your mind, you can always switch.
I've been reading a lot of OB reviews online as we are moving in a few weeks.
Ditto what @CruiseGirl28 said. You certainly don't have to have the same doctor the whole time, but since you're looking, might as well pick one that you might stay with.
So, calling up the hospital obstetrics dept is probably wiser than the small practice that is at my regular doc's office?
I'm sure if the small OB office is located near the hospital, that its likely some of the doctors have admitting rights there. You don't have to use one of the hospital's doctors, just someone at a practice that could deliver you at the hospital.
Have you checked your insurance website? That's how I found my doctor. It should list what hospital they have rights at and you can search for someone close to you.
I'm going to call someone Monday I think I have a uti (fun times right?) I hope I can get in soon with my first I spent 7 days in the hospital because I let a uti go. So with my second my doctor put me on antibiotics for my whole pregnacy.
Re: Question about making my first prenatal appointment.
Some places (like mine) you have a main doctor. But I think at some practices, you don't have a main one.
