Call me crazy but DH and I just decided on the following:

Turn formal room into TV room, TV room into playroom, playroom into DD1's room, DD1's room into DD2's room, and DD2's room into a nursery for our June baby.

Which means I'm revamping the whole dang house in the next 6mths! Am I nuts?! Ha! It really is the only way to keep all the areas functional and give all 3 children their own room.

What house or decor project are you taking on for your June bundle? Even though I'm joking that it's crazy, I'm really excited to do all this, it feels like a whole new start

We are selling our current home and moving into a Brand new custom built home within the next few months, so I feel your excitement, and stress!! This will be our 3rd as well! I think we are crazy!

Curious - why do you need a playroom? Isn't that what children's rooms are for?

We are currently looking for a home - living with my parents while we look. And will be out of the country as a family for three weeks. Then we come back and my husband leaves for 10 days for work in China.

Holy shit, I'm not even out of pajamas yet. The only thing we are really willing to do is convert the polar expedition staging room into a nursery.

It's not that anyone *needs* a playroom. Our old house didn't have one. But by the time my oldest was 2, it was the number one thing I had on my list for our next house! Somehow toys just take over the house, especially once I had two kids. I had always said that they would keep toys in their room, and they do, but once they got a play kitchen and a doll house and some other bigger things, they creep into the family room. And start taking over the house! I love having a room to put them all away at the end of the day, and that it's close to the family room. Kids only play in their rooms for a short while, they want to be close to where the family are hanging out. At least mine do.

I'm sure everyone has different reasons, but our bedrooms are small with the exception of one huge extra room in our basement. It just works to put most of the big toys and have a play area in there.

We are finishing our entire basement. Then dd1 will get a room down there and I can make her room into a nursery. I'm sure that once dd1 moves downstairs then dd2 will want to also. Then I can turn her room into a homeschool room and reclaim part of my living room.

We're doing something similar, and already started. Our room became nursery, TV room became our room, and guest room became TV room. We moved around a TON of furniture this past week, but will be painting and getting new pieces to fill things out. Good luck

If our kids had their toys in their room, they would NEVER sleep. I mean NEVER. lol

We built a 4 bedroom house, planned on using one as a toy room from the beginning.

We are trying to save money by staying in our current home longer. We only have two bedrooms. Our dd and our sd that we are expecting in June are going to have to share a room. We are currently trying to come up with a good way to decorate the room since it is completely pink right now.

In the middle of putting a dormer on our house. So crazy! A million trips to ikea and pottery barn and boxes all over the house. Hopefully it gets done soon! Then we'll have to put the master bedroom upstairs, with a nook for the nursery. Really excited!

My parents wouldn't let us have toys in our rooms. Rooms were for sleeping, quiet time, and homework when we needed solitude. We couldn't have phones, computers, or toys in our rooms.

I understand the reasoning. She wanted us to be in the family sphere, not in our own worlds when we played, and I think she thought it would encourage us to play together instead of apart. Plus, when we got older, we couldn't demand privacy that we hadn't earned on the phone/computer by retreating to our rooms.

We're doing a bathroom reno for the second upstairs bathroom (aka "baby's bathroom") that we figured was now or never. Then doing the nursery.

I have thought about turning our formal LR to a playroom because we don't use it (and that's what it was when we bought this place). It gives me heartburn to think about what we'd do with all the furniture that's in there... So that's a problem for later!

We moved into our new house 5 weeks ago. The DAY after we moved in, the master bedroom toilet caused a major leak in the kitchen, and ruined our brand new hard wood we had just put in. Insurance is taking care of everything, but b/c of the holidays, we were not able to get work started until tomorrow. We've been living on sub floors, with no ceiling in the kitchen for 5 weeks. It's driving me completely insane. I feel like we can't settle into the house until its done. AHHHH!

Other than that, we are not doing much before the babies arrive, other than getting settled into our new house and setting up their room.

Wowsers. You, lady, have some drive. We just moved into our new home 6 weeks ago and I have problems just keeping it vacuumed. We have an empty room that we painted cream for baby...but haven't done anything else yet. Was just thinking the other day how baby-unfriendly our house is! I need to get moving!!!

We moved DH's work out room into my yoga room over break. His workout room will become the nursery. Still need to start that project...

We're planning on moving shortly after baby arrives. Which is going to be crazy, but at least it means we don't have to change much here!

I'm curious, is there a reason you can't just move DD2 into the playroom and leave DD1 where she is? Or move DD1 into the playroom and let DD2 stay put? You'd reduce the number of room changes while still being able to turn one of the girls' rooms into a nursery and move the TV room and playroom as planned.

ETA: Or put the nursery where the playroom is and leave both girls where they are?

DD's room is always the cleanest in the house because all she does is sleep there. We have a playroom set up but she still has toys strewn about the house.

Your list is long OP! I'm impressed.

We are planning to move our guest room to the basement (finished with a lot of open space) but would like to wall off half of it first so DH wants to hang dry wall over spring break when his family visits. They are good at those projects. Then we will convert the guest room to the nursery (basically just move the furniture) and eventually make the current nursery into DD's "big girl" room.

In reality we probably will have this baby in a rock and play or bassinet for a few months until DD is ready to transition out of the crib anyway. So these will be gradual changes!

We are converting my husband's office to the baby's room, and converting my office to a shared office. Although, he refuses to move any furniture until I've picked out a paint color

It's to do with the floor plan really. I have gone round and around with DH trying to come up with what's best! The playroom is downstairs while the other bedrooms are up, so if it's going to be anyone's bedroom, it's my oldest. I'm don't love that but it'll work. Then, her old room is bigger than the last so we'll move DD2 into it. DH also brought up that this way she is also getting a 'new' room since DD1 seems so excited for this move.

We're basically just doing furniture renovation, although the nursery was just redone because the ceiling came down.

We just ordered a new desk for the front room so we can move our printer from my dresser. New furniture for LBB, hang the television in our room and move LBB's furniture into the nursery.

Exactly this!!! Our bedrooms are for resting and sleeping - we have books, a few puzzles and some cards. Nothing with batteries or that my son will choose to do over sleeping.

I am also planning to be a horrible, mean, terrible parent that won't allow a TV, cOmputer, video game console, etc in his room. I want to say ever -- but, never say never, right...we caught a 9 year old (turned 9 at camp!) with porn on her iPad at camp this summer...her parents had no idea. But. I digress.

I'm renovating the ensuite, main bathroom and toilet, and the laundry. All outsourced work because neither of us have the skills to do any of it. But the project will be managed by me. To make it cheaper I am picking out everything and buying the bits and pieces since everything is getting gutted out. It's now or never and I won't be happy with my home until these rooms are done. Hopefully it won't get stressful. HA!

We recently bought a 20 year old house and are completely gutting it in two stages. Right now it's the first floor (where the master suite and nursery are) and then in 2-3 years we will do the second floor (which has a loft 3 beds 3 baths and a bonus room).

It is terrible and I will never buy anything that isn't new construction again. I mean we don't plan to move again for 20-30 years but still. My life is exactly like an episode of one of those HGTV shows where every other day the GC is like "uh oh we found this other terrible issue you have to fix now." We will be lucky at this point to not go 50% over budget. Thankfully we have the cash to cover it, and our mortgage payment is low bc we went with a fixer upper but good lord.

I'm sure I'll love it when it's done. But I swear to god once phase 2 is done I am never renovating anything again. My only saving grace is that we're not living there during the reno...we are still in our condo which will become a rental property when we move.

We're hoping to refinish the hardwood in our house. We bought this summer and the hardwood is stained and bare and just looks like crap. We also want to replace our interior doors, our bathroom flooring, and the bathroom vanity. I'll be extremely lucky if this all gets done before baby, though. REALLY hoping, though!!

Very impressive! Do it! Especially now while you have the energy.

We have two pretty big projects in work. The sliding glass door in the nursery won't shut all the way due to water damage in the wall so we need to have that entire wall replaced. Hopefully we can still use the same glass door.

The 2nd project is to remove this monstrous kidney bean shaped bar in our mid century open floor plan house. It was there when we bought our house and we both don't like it. It's just going to be a huge project to remove since the bar is made of granite and super heavy and it also has a built in mini fridge and dishwasher so requires hiring a plumber and electrician.

We aren't planning anything major, but over this weekend we have done a LOT of cleaning/straightening/organizing of several rooms, including the nursery-to-be. It used to just be an office, so thankfully don't have much furniture to clear out, but all of the "stuff" had to go somewhere!

I applaud you ladies tackling major projects, but like PP said - best to get it done now while you have some energy!

We may be moving... If home renovations are finished on the house in time (DH's dad's). Driving me crazy... I'm having a home birth so I want to know where. Plus don't want to move right after the baby is born either.. Dogs need time to acclimate too before baby if it is before. Sigh, trying not to stress.

I have ambitions to replace the cheap oak baseboards with white ones. Our condo is pretty small, so it would be the bedrooms (ours and baby's), the upstairs landing, stairway, living room, and entranceway. Then I want to replace the oak doors with white six panel doors. At barest minimum I'd like to get baby's room done before June.

We are going to move to a bigger house, I'm an interior designer so I'm sure whatever we find I will rip apart because I can't help myself. If you are feeling good all the power to you and your projects! There is nothing more satisfying than switching things up! Life can get so stale sometimes.

I wish we could renovate the bathroom before baby, but I don't see that happening. We've relocated the guest bed to our office downstairs and we're cleaning out the office so h can put his clothes there (they're currently in the closet of the baby's room). That's about all we have in our budget!

We are moving the office from an upstairs bedroom to a much smaller bedroom downstairs. The office will then become the nursery. Nothing too major but the desk is going to be heavy to move and the room it will go into is filled with junk that needs to be organized/tossed.
