Oh shit... High Risk Check-In 1/2

Sorry, I spaced out all morning and forgot to start this weeks check-in. I'm a turd.

So, how was your week? Tell me about New Years. Any appointments coming up next week?

GTKY: Did you make a resolution (I know that's been asked already elsewhere) BUT second part: what steps are you already taking to make your goal happen?

We have had a crummy time lately, with me being put on bed rest, but it was nice DH had his off week from work this week. He has been amazing and helpful! Starting Monday I will have DD1 in half days at daycare, and I will bring her home in time to nap her here. By the time she wakes, dad will be home. Perfect. So hopefully that works out.

I've been making lists and pinning shit on Pinterest like crazy. There's a lot of crap still to buy for #2 here, even though she's the second girl. It's a little daunting. But a good thing is I found a double stroller on kijiji and got it for a great price! I was torn on buying one, but it was inexpensive and great for what we need. Couldn't pass it up.

This week coming up I see the OB on Tuesday (every 2 weeks now) and an ultrasound at the high risk unit at the hospital I work at on Thursday. I will be able to visit some gal pals, which will be nice. I work 20 steps from L&D.

Our NYE was quiet. We put DD1 to bed, and had some snacks. I drank grape juice and DH polished off a bottle of champagne. We kissed at midnight and fell asleep.

GTKY: I made some self improvement ones but one goal I set as far as something I want to actually DO is learn to use my sewing machine and make stuff with it. So I have a designer friend who is going to come give me a tutorial. And I have simple stuff pinned to try. So I guess those are steps towards it? I really want to be able to make matching crap for the girls.

Heyyyy! My heart goes out to you for the bed rest mama! I feel like I'm walking on egg shells around my doctor because I'm just waiting for it #:-S Lucked out on it today after we discussed my blood pressures recently and how I was symptomatic the other day (stars/black spots in my vision and a bad headache, bp was 163/94 but I laid down and it went down to 126/69 and I felt better)

I failed my 1-hr glucose !!! So angry. My 3-hr is scheduled next Friday. Along with my follow up ultrasound for little mans cystic structure in his belly.

Then I see my ob on 1/15 for my bi weekly check up and he said he will schedule a growth ultrasound for me at 28 weeks. The only plus to being high risk is all the extra ultrasounds!

That's great that you'll be able to see some of your co workers! Last time when I was on bed rest, I stopped by my job a few times because I missed them! Let us know how the appointment and ultrasound go!

There's still SO MUCH left to do and buy for this little guy. We have a car seat/stroller and a dresser/end table combo that we want to refinish for him (wonder when that will ever happen? Haha) Because DD had an old crib given to her, we're donating it since she is in her "big girl bed" now and my parents are buying us one with a changing table attached but we haven't gone and picked it out yet! What kind of double stroller did you get? We definitely need to get going on figuring that part out as well!

NYE, we were all in bed by 10! Haha DD was sleeping by 930.

I really, really really want to learn to crochet! I just always wonder when the heck I'm going to have time to do that with a toddler, new baby and finishing school this spring.

Hi everyone! This is my first check in here.

I am almost 25w with baby #2 and have complete placenta previa. I am also walking on eggshells waiting for my first (most likely) bleed and bedrest. We are getting ready for a move so trying to balance packing with not overdoing it and causing a bleed.

QOTD- my resolution is to stop frivolous spending. I need to stop the take out and limit my trips to Target.

Nothing exciting to report here.  I need to go do the damn GD test, so that'll happen Monday.  Next OB appointment will be the 14th, and I'm guessing from there it's every 2 weeks?  I don't remember... it was a long time ago when that discussion was had. lol But I think it was from 30 weeks on.  I have slight panic attacks seeing the weeks tick by...
Don't see the neurologist until February... hoping to not have to deal with the OMG YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS ARE INSANE... again.  Still annoys me that he made me panic over nothing.

I don't do resolutions, I just kinda decide randomly through the year that things need to be done and work on them from there.

Welcome @saltbox40‌ and @jlb902 sorry you're joining us but we are glad to have you.

@cwiceangel‌ ya I hope they don't freak over your sugars especially considering the last one was normal... So weird!

@Amandysergio‌ boo for failing the 1h! I gotta go do that in a week or so. The blood lab up the street will do it as a walk in. Hope the 3h goes well!

@KonaiNeto‌ sorry about the contractions! Scary stuff, I'm happy they passed. Anything since?

Hello ladies! I haven't been around as much lately because of work and life, but I'm still doing good! I don't see my regular OB until the 26th and my specialist until Feb! Nothing too exciting going on here, which is great!

I didn't make any NY resolutions this year actually. No reason for it really either lol other than I just didn't even think about it! I am focusing though on making sure to take time for myself at least once a month. And also stressing less about things I cannot control, like how my mother feels about my life for example!! :) Happy new year ladies.

At my 20 week u/s they saw that the cord was attached to the bottom of the placenta as opposed to right in the middle. I have a follow up u/s at 28 weeks. That will determine if I need to have a c-section at 37 weeks. They are monitoring the baby's development to make sure he or she is progressing as normal. I have to monitor kicks and should feel 1-3 per hour. I didn't really consider myself high risk until my appointment on Wednesday when we went over the risks and some more details. Does anyone else have this issue? At first I was under the impression that it was placenta previa but it's not. Husband and I made resolutions to be kick ass parents! Hopefully that'll be easy enough ;)

Sorry for the new comers! Wish you didn't have to be here but at least we are pretty supportive of the various issues we've got. ;) hope everyone's issues get under control and those who have been uneventful stay that way! It makes me sad to see so many mamas on bedrest. Hang in there ladies!! And the newcomers, welcome and sorry you are here as well.

I don't have much new to report. I am still on the max dose of Glyburide for my GD, but holding steady for now. Still going into the perinatologist weekly to get numbers checked and being warned the next step is insulin, but so far I have dodged that bullet. Thank god! Just hope it stays steady.

I will hit 28 weeks later this week- which is 3rd Trimester. Woohoo!! But, I have to start going in weekly for BPP's, so that kind of stinks! I only work 3 days a week, so trying to schedule these weekly BPP's and find someone to watch my 3 year old has been nothing less of a mess.

But from reading what everyone else is going through, my issues are nothing. Praying and sending good thoughts to everyone on here! Take care of yourselves. :)

Hi everyone I'm new to this whole thing so bare with me. I'm considered high risk. So far everything has been going good with the baby. My doctors are keeping a very close eye on both of us. Glad to be apart of a supportive group.

I'm due April 30th with a little girl. I have epilepsy which can effect her developments. So far she is checking out to be right on track and normal. I am on medicine for my epilepsy to help keep things undercontrol. I go back for my next appointment at the end of the month.

    Happy New Year everyone!

Nothing crazy to report for me. Saw my OB yesterday and everything is looking good. This babe is stuck on my right side which is making my sciatica flare up but it's also making me look lopsided! My OB, my massage therapist, even my mom have made comments about how off my belly looks.
I've had ultrasounds at every appointment up until yesterday, which was kind of nice because we actually got to hear the heart beat with the Doppler (something that we hadn't done yet, so very exciting!). At my next appointment we will do another ultrasound to check cervical length to make sure I'm not beginning to thin and to check the blood flow to the placenta.

GTKY- We had a super chill New Year's Eve. Just went to my BIL and his wife's place to play games and let the kids play. Both my boys were passed out by 10:30 and DH fell asleep on their couch by 11.
As for resolutions, mine is to start journaling about my kids more. I bought 3 journals, one for each, and whenever they do/say something cute or funny or whatever I'm going to document it for them so they can look back when they're older and see how sweet they were. I always loved going through my baby book because my parents had a section filled with funny things I had said, so I think it would be a nice keepsake for them to have as well.

@BabyPeanutV2015‌ I'm an epilepsy girl too! I really shouldn't be excited about that but it's nice to not be alone... I'm glad your little one is looking good. Ours is too. I was so relieved to see that my meds had no effect on him. I was totally freaked about neural tube defects but dr said everything is perfect so yay! Hope it's the same for you. Has your med dosage gone up a lot?

@cwiceangel‌ I was off my medicine for the whole first trimester and a little of the second. They have been putting me back on slowly. My OB said it was a good thing I was off of them during the first trimester with all the major organs and such developing. My neurologist is going to be checking my levels each month to see if my med needs to increase. Glad that I'm not the only one! It's good to hear that your little one is doing well too! I was so nervous about being pregnant and taking medicine but so far everything is good.

I guess I now belong on this thread. I was referred last week to the "high risk obstetrical care unit" at a specialized hospital about 45 minutes from home. I was really looking forward to continuing my care and delivering with my midwife at our local hospital so I am a little discouraged that there is a new plan for me. However, this hospital is the best of the best and I'm thankful for that. I was recently diagnosed with ehlers danlos syndrome in my joints which sparked a range of tests. This all stemmed from an initial referral from a family history (sister) who was born with hypo plastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). Once they confirmed at my A/S that Baby T's heart was developing normally they asked me a ton of "health related questions" and decided that it was abnormal for me to have so many fractures, dislocations, and sprains throughout my life. This lead to more tests and resulted in a diagnosis with EDS. I won't know more until my 4th ultrasound and my initial consultation with my new OB on January 13th. I haven't officially received the results from my echo but when I called the medical receptionist said that nothing of concern was noted on my chart but the OB would discuss further at my consultation. I also currently have placenta previa but I'm hoping the placenta will have moved by the time of my ultrasound.

@BabyPeanutV2015‌ I never got off my meds. Drs and husband (pharmacist) did a ton of research between them on the meds and the risk of having me off them vs on them wasn't worth it. All depends on what you're taking I think. The lamictal had a pretty low rate compared to everything else. My OB had two on his list that he had serious issue with and would've suggested me getting off them ASAP.

Happy New Years, responding late. I don't think I did a HR check in yet, but I did share some of my story in some replies to posts.
I was diagnosed with complete previa at 20 weeks, 24 weeks I was told it was partial and they expected Jo issues, the next day I was hospitalized for 2 days for bleeding. I got out the Saturday before Christmas on bed rest and the day after Christmas I was back in for a week for more bleeding.
I've been home on bed rest again for a couple days and just so scared every time I move that I'm going to bleed and constantly think I feel bleeding.
I was also informed at my most recent stay that my cervix is shortening.
Next appointment is this Thursday just for a check in, then the following week I have an ultrasound.
Anyone else with previa/bleeding have tips on just relaxing and not going into panic every time I feel discharge?

I'm considered high risk due to bring overweight to start with. Due 4/15 and planning to find out boy/girl on 1/31 at our shower (I can't wait!!). I feel very fortunate that I have had no true complications with the baby, however I am a lucky member of the perpetually sick club. Heart burn, constant nausea and general crappy feeling define how I have felt during the pregnancy.
I am worried about my 2nd glucose test in 3 weeks b/c my eating habits are less than great (due to only certain things staying down/sounding appealing).

@This and that I am in your same boat. I am due April 29 and have complete previa. I am on both the May and April boards because my due date was uncertain at first. I have had 3 bleeds with 2 hospital stays, so I know how you feel. The only advice I can offer is to just take it easy as much as possible. I was overdoing it which caused my bleeds, even though I was adhering to my pelvic restriction. I was lifting at work and moving around a lot. (I assume you have been placed on pelvic restriction?) If you feel like you have discharge, go check. However, since I've been taking it very easy, my bleeds have stopped. Try not to stress too much. Just do what you can to rest your body when you can, and hopefully everything will turn out fine. Hope this helps!

I haven't checked in a while. Between life and pregnancy, haven't checked the bump in a while.

I'm 26w3d with baby #2. I just had my 11th progesterone injection last Thursday. I go to the doctor 1/6 for a cervical check then 1/15 with mfm for ultrasound.

At my 24 week appt, cervix was nice and closed and measuring 37mm, no bed rest til I start dilating or drop below 25mm. Praying these injections work for baby girl! (I delivered my son at 30w due to ptl of unknown cause).

I have my glucose test Tuesday. Hoping to keep it down. Between horrible heartburn and nasty winter viruses, it's hard to keep things down.

Looking foward to spring and having a full term baby. Fingers crossed!

@Lauracox3‌ thanks! That helps a lot. It's just nice knowing you're not alone too. I hope you have no more bleeds!

This week I have both a routine OB appointment and the high risk doctor on Thursday. I'm interested in how long the baby is now, because he/she was measuring ahead last time.
I'm having a hard time as all these moms are being diagnosed with diabetes for the first time. As you whine and complain about the sugar test and how gestational diabetes is messing up your life... Consider the rest of us who have dealt with it for years before the baby and will still have it after delivery. We all want healthy normal size babies!

As for NYE. We went to a friends house and had dessert with fondue and played Cards Against Humanity. DH had to work the next morning so we kissed at midnight and went to bed. As for New Year's resolutions... I never really make any. 2015 is going to be a great year ladies!

I have epilepsy as well and am considered high risk.  I've never checked in with this group because I have had no issues, thank god, so far.  I feel you on the epilepsy fears though.  My doctor told me that after 26 weeks is where the highest chances of seizures can occur because you're blood volume has doubled and meds can be less effective.  With careful monitoring of blood meds can be adjusted as needed.  I have an appointment next Monday and am so nervous where Im such a worry wart! Glad things are going well so far!

@teril10‌ my neurologist hasn't said anything to me about the increase chance of seizures. He's been monitoring my bloodwork and adjusting it accordingly. He did say that once baby is out I have to drop my dosage pretty quickly due to baby and water weight being gone. He doesn't expect me to need to be above 500mg of the lamictal xr, which is where I am right now. But he said once I delivery he expects a call and for me to go back down to 400mg and then see me two weeks after and assess me then and try to get me back down to where I started.
Please keep us updated. It's seriously nice to not be alone in this specific problem.
Fellow high risk ladies (non epileptic) please don't think I'm dismissing you and all of your support so far. You are wonderful ladies and I so appreciate all of you.

    Hello all & welcome new-comers!

Nothing eventful here. Like @saltbox40‌ , I have insulin resistance that is making life a bit stressful. I get really tired if my blood sugars are high so I have been working really hard at keeping them down. It's no fun!

I do not have any updates on baby... Have my next appointment two weeks away. Baby's kicks reassure me a lot.

NYE- did not do anything. My son climbed into our bed so I was cuddling with him (went to bed early). No resolutions for me- each day as it comes... ;)

    I wish everyone well.
