Nursing pads and nipple pain

So I've got an issue. At 33 weeks I'm producing a lot of (colostrum?), particularly at night time when I'm asleep. I've tried wearing Johnson and Johnson nursing pads, the ones in the pink box, but everytime I wear them, I get sharp pains in my nipples. I've checked for cracks and I see nothing. Is this all nursing pads, or am I just using the wrong ones? I'm a little lost here.

Try putting lansino cream on them and getting some of the reusable cloth nursing pads. The disposable ones always made me itchy.
