There has been some discussion lately regarding ear piercing for LO. I have a daughter and want to pierce her ears eventually but have been debating about when is the best time. Now or later when she asks? As of now, I'm thinking maybe this summer.
So, are you piercing your baby's ears? Discussion welcomed.
Re: Are you piercing baby's ears?
I am not going to judge a mom for piercing her baby's ears, but in general I am not a fan of the look.
DD got her ears pierced when she was 9 for her birthday. She asked when she was 8, but we made her show us that she could be responsible for her body first (we defined this as remembering to shower and brush her hair). She wants additional ear piercings, and she, too, can get them when she can pay for them and drive herself. Again, whatevs.
Thus, I chose SS.

Same here. I got mine pierced when I was a few months old. All of the girls in our families get it done as an infant. If our pedi didn't do it, I don't know that I'd get it done though. Something about letting a random teenager at Claire's near my baby with a piercing gun just doesn't sit right with me.
I just asked DH if he would take the boys to get their ears pierced, and he said absolutely. DD had been wanting to get her ears pierced for years before she asked for it as her birthday gift. DH says if the boys are that adamant about it for that long, then it's something they actually want, and the same rules would apply to them.
Isn't the beauty of having your own kids is that you get to make the rules?
I had absolutely NO idea that you can get your kid's ears pierced by some pediatricians? Am I reading that right?

My pedi did mine as a kid. It seems weird though now that I think about it more. I wonder how the trend of pedis piercing ears started.
I voted no since I had a boy. I guess if he really wanted it we would talk about it. Dh and I try to encourage our kids to think of how things can affect you long term. Like if you get some crazy tattoo on your face, will it limit the jobs you can get in the future?
With my dd I got her ears pierced when she was two. She was old enough to leave them alone but young enough to not be afraid and remember the pain.
I have never heard of a pedi piercing ears in our area. I also didn't know tattoo places did them. I guess it makes sense but I always think those places are only for 18 and older. Good to know for hopefully future dd.
