Cramping at 17 weeks??

I've been having menstrual like cramps lately that go into my back and my sides. I'm pretty sure it's growing pains or RLP but, I'm just curious if anyone feels something similar around 17 weeks. I feel better rest but it's hard to do with an active 15 month old!!!

Re: Cramping at 17 weeks??

  • My first pregnancy I would get these and they freaked me out.  Yes, probably RLP which to me felt a little menstrual crampy.  Stretching, hydration and rest helps but hard to do with a 15 month old.  Good luck!

  • Yes, I have had this quite a bit. I called the Nurse line at my dr's office and they said period-like cramps could be a sign of a UTI. If you have burning when you pee, or other symptoms you might want to rule that out.
In my case, I did not have any symptoms of a uti, so she suggested really increasing water intake for a couple days and that did the trick for me! Of course, if you have any bleeding you would want to call dr right away. Good luck, I hope it goes away!
  • I'm guessing RLP as well. The last three days I've had constant cramps, so I know baby is making more room in there. It's uncomfortable and painful at times, but overall nbd.

  • I've always assumed cramping feelings are braxton hicks contractions (normal and not harmful at all). RLP for me was more of a sudden sharp pain at the sides or lower portions of my belly, not at all like menstrual cramps.
