I'm with @xbreannalynn. The last one is the worst though .. Remember she has to live with the strange spelling her entire life and constantly correct people.
DS1 & DS2 anxiously await Baby Ava Victoria May 18th!
Please. Put yourself in your future daughter's shoes for a moment. Imagine spelling your name in school, at doctor's offices, at work, over the phone with companies, etc. Do not torture her like this. Traditional spelling is best.
I agree with others and don't care for the odd spellings. If you prefer a unique spelling, make it a shorter one because she will have have to spell it out to people the rest of her life. I've had to do it with my last name and I wouldn't want to have to spell my first name too. Just my two cents. Congrats on the girl!
As someone that works at s hospital, we laugh at misspelled names. I find it humorous how people think it makes them look original, but in reality, it makes you look uneducated and super trashy.
Curious as to why OP has yet to respond. She thought it was necessary to post it here rather than the name board (they would of had a hay day with this one!!) ....... so how about it OP?
DS1 & DS2 anxiously await Baby Ava Victoria May 18th!
I'm curious as to the answer to the question of why she wants to make up the spelling, because this has been a common phenomenon that I want to understand.
Do you have to spell out your own name for people? I grew up with a long first and last name that needed to be carefully spelled out for everyone. It is really annoying. Don't do this to your child.
This! My name is also very long and happens to be Danish which makes it very uncommon. I get a lot of compliments on it now but growing up I always had to correct people.

I agree with traditional spellings. I actually work on a labour floor and things are getting out of hand with spellings and namings. Stop changing Cs to Ks, and stop putting a Y in where ANY other vowel goes!
As for pronunciations, Madeleine is the typically French way of spelling and is pronounced Mad-e-LENN. or even Mad-LENN, as two syllables. Madeline is a more American way of spelling and pronouncing it, as Mad-e-LINE.
As a teacher, it doesn't matter the spelling. Every Madelyn in the class will be pronounced the same and will need a nickname or last initial. I have 2 Kali's in a class. They spell it different, but doesn't matter when I call on them. Please go with a traditional spelling and make her life much happier. The spelling won't make her unique. Her personality will.

And with all of these different spellings I'm now confused with how you are pronouncing her name to begin with..
Is it Mad.A.Lynn or Mad.A.line ?
By the way, what's with the huge influx of naming threads? I thought we covered the bases on this weeks ago. Let's talk food.. I'm starving.
