Terms for pregnancy you hate

The other day I saw one of my old co-workers for the first time in years and she said to me "How do you feel all knocked up?" Instantly I felt like she thought I was trash. So for me knocked up is the worst term for pregnancy.
Which term do you hate the most?

Re: Terms for pregnancy you hate

  • The Aussie term I learned was 'up the duff', which I find hilarious, but would not like it applied to me.

  • I agree all of these are horrible. The one I don't mind is with child, it doesn't feel as brash as the others.
  • I don't like "bun in the oven"...

  • I think sticking to expecting or pregnant is the way to go, unless someone knows me really well. Then it's more of an "in" joke if they call me the prego or knocked up. "With child" makes me laugh because it sounds so solemn, but it's not offensive to me.
  • My friend asked me if I was excited to "blow out my vadge" when I deliver the baby. When you put it like that...can't wait! Sounds amazing.

  • @marthah05 I completely know what you mean about "knocked up", I'm not a fan of that at all, it makes the pregnancy sound like the result of being irresponsible or trashy or something.

I don't care for preggers or prego because it sounds like something a 13 year old would say.

  • I can't stand knocked up, prego, or preggers. They make pregnancy sound trashy, diminishing its value.
  • I also hate preggers, prego, pregzilla all of those are awful. I also dislike "with child" it's just gross n creepy to me, maybe because of the male nurse who used that phrase referring to me. He was gross. I second the "we are pregnant" crap! Saying we are expecting is fine, but no dude I'm pregnant not we, you are most definitely not pregnant

  • Oh I hate the "we are pregnant one" and I second (an third and forth) "Knocked up". Prego is whatever for me and so is "bun in the oven" that one is just kinda humorous. Just plain old "pregnant" or "expecting" works for me. Although my friends can get away with some of the more annoying ones.

  • I don't like any of the random terms lol. I don't mind "knocked up" on this site because we are all just a bunch of ladies having fun in here, but I would probably feel weird if someone called me knocked up in real life.

  • @finallyourturn2 you are having bad luck with posts today. In one thread your post got cut off halfway through for some reason and in this one it got posted twice! haha

I also have to add that I hate the Prego Spaghetti Sauce pregnancy pictures. I think they are tacky.

  • Up the spug.
  • I pretty much dislike anything but pregnant or expecting. I usually just say that we're having a baby.

  • My H lovingly refers to me as "Preggy" which I actually don't mind. I think it's sweet. Everyone else can stick to pregnant or expecting, tyvm. I also refer to myself as "knocked up" out of humor.
