Sore throat in LO

I feel like my son has a sore or irritated throat. He sounds different when crying and making noises. Is this something I should call his doctor about or is there something I can do at home for him? I'm feeling like an incompetent FTM.

Re: Sore throat in LO

  • Following. LO has a cold and it sounds like a scratchy throat. I have no clue

  • LO hasn't gotten sick yet, but I remember from my first that dr's advice was to keep humidifier on all day and night.  If they're extra stuffy, run hot water in the tub to create a steam room.  The "sore throat" that you're describing could be congestion which should get better with humidifier and steam.  If it seems to interfere with LO drinking enough milk or breathing, call dr immediately.

With my first, I was always surprised how little colds bothered him...he used to look so congested and have runny nose, but it wouldn't phase him.

  • My LO is just getting over a cold.  He had a ton of congestion and I think a sore throat.  He didn't want to feed so my concern was dehydration.  We took him into the Dr.  they said to monitor his temp (he never had a fever) and make sure he was getting plenty of wet diapers.  He used the nose frida to clear his snotty nose, a humidifier, and took him into the bathroom when we showered.

  • Thank you ladies. LO has no congestion, just the sore throat. I called his doctor just for a piece of mind. She said to monitor his temperature but since he's eating fine and having enough dirty diapers, she doesn't think it's a problem. LO is colicky so I'm really not sure if his sore throat is due to a cold or him screaming so much.
