Cloth Diapering

Woollybottoms

Hi I am expecting my second child in July. We uses grow with me AIO diapers for the first and hated them. We found they leaked all the time. I am currently researching different types for this one and I'm thinking prefolds with woolybottom covers/hybrids. Can anyone give me some advice or personal experience with these?
Thanks!

  • I have a pair of woolly bottoms longies and they seem well made. Prefolds are pretty well loved around here.

  • I love my Woollybottoms! That being said, I don't really like them with a prefold (or snapless fitted...). You might consider fitteds with them. I'm also not sure I would want to exclusively use wool. Since it's not actually waterproof per se, you might be more prone to leaks. Prefolds and covers are always a good bet, though (I love rumparooz and blueberry covers) ;)

  • I have a woolly bottoms cover for overnight. I wouldn't want to use wool exclusively for a newborn, it's a pain to clean the infrequent poop leaks off the wool (it takes a few days to dry and then I have to re lanolize it). And that only happens every so often with am overnight poop that might leak from the fitted we use. I can't imagine the number of leaks you might get during the newborn phase and having to hand wash the covers each time, no matter how great you are at the jellyroll fold :)

We used flats and prefolds under wipable covers at first (and still do). Blueberry and Rumparooz were my favorite NB size, and Best Bottoms and Blueberry Capri covers are our go-to now.
