Golfing while pregnant?

Has anyone golfed with a pregnant belly? My husband and I usually take a golf vacation to Scottsdale every March, and we're planning on it again this year. Greens fees are pretty expensive, though, and I don't want to reserve tee times if I won't be able to golf around my belly. I'll be about 6 months pregnant. I'm assuming it will interfere with my swing a bit, just because of the additional weight in front, but my arms will be extended beyond any actual belly. Am I just being overly optimistic that this is doable?

I suppose it's not a huge downside if I can't golf. I'll just lay around the pool instead.

Re: Golfing while pregnant?

  • I golfed during my last pregnancy without a problem. The hardest part for me was finding something to wear. I told my dh we needed to start a line of maternity golf clothes. Hit em straight!

  • Oh crap, I didn't even think about clothes. Thanks for that heads up.
  • I just want to hug you right now because I thought you were going to ask if it would harm the baby to golf while pregnant.

A friend of mine had adorable pictures from gilding while in her third tri, and she was wearing a polo shirt and shorts - maybe not specifically for golfing, but it worked!

Haha, yeah, I am just selfishly focused on my swing. It could be really frustrating!

I've had this worry too. I'm super large chested, so my arms are stretched out farther than normal, so I think I'll have some definite golfing time before baby gets here, but I'd say your swing might have to be adjusted.
I'd say try shoving something up your shirt to see if you can still swing with it there :)

ETA: by stretched out I mean further from my body than normal, I don't have go go gadget arms.

  • Try the driving range before you book a tee time. That way you won't waste any money if you find it too challenging
