Resolutions!

Ever since I was a teenager, my New Year's resolution has been to lose anywhere from 10-50lbs. Not this year! Great bonus of being pregnant. :)

This prompted me to think a little deeper about making positive changes. This year I resolve to make peace with the past, not stress about the things I can't control, and to try to genuinely enjoy ever last minute I have of this pregnancy. I am so blessed to be pregnant and have an amazing support system. I will be choosing joy in 2015!!

What is everyone else's resolutions this year??

Mine was to lose weight too but not this year! :) So mine is to forgive and forget and to show my loved ones how much I truly care for them.

  • Mine is to get caught up on my reading list. Weight loss isn't a priority this year for me either.

Mine has always been something about changing my body - even though I have never been overweight, I have always been overly body conscious and borderline obsessed with maintaining or losing weight. This is something I absolutely do not want to pass to my daughter. I want to practice/preach body acceptance for her...which means I need to start with me! So other than "have a baby", that is my resolution. Be a better role model for her.
  • I'm finally going to finish Season 5 of The Wire!
  • This year, I resolve to enjoy every moment of this pregnancy I can and try not to get caught up in worry or anxiety about what could go wrong. I resolve to be a better wife, friend and daughter. I resolve to be the best mom I can be to this sweet baby we've been blessed with. And I resolve to live gently and kindly in this world.
Happy New Year, June Mamas (:
  • I want to do more yoga and be more organized!!!
  • Eat healthier!! Finish projects around the house. Curse less!
  • Eat healthier as a family and I want to start running. I'm super out of shape and have never been a runner. I would love to someday run a 5k for march of dimes.

  • Other than the 25k I plan on running in December? Take more pics of my kids (NOT using my phone) and after baby comes, spend some time with the horses ( I brushed them today, off to a great start).
  • Fold my laundry... Haha not super exciting, but it'll help my morning routine to not be running to the dryer to match socks for the day :)

I always set goals instead of making resolutions, and most of them are fitness-related (certain # of miles to run or bike, personal records to break, races to do, etc). I don't think I'll be setting any records this year though! Need to re-think my goal-making strategy.

One thing I want to do is read more books and spend less time on the computer (but you fabulous J'15 ladies make that hard!). We did finally get rid of cable, so we'll be watching less television this year! Hoorah!

ETA: I thought about it more, and one resolution I am going to try my darndest to keep is to not be "that mom" on Facebook. Either over-sharing of baby photos, complaining about how tired/stressed I am, or what have you. Just not what people need to hear about my life!

I know you weren't looking for advice, but I just have to highly recommend the Couch-to-5k program. There's an App you can download to guide you through the workouts, and it's just 3 days per week, ~30 minutes per workout. It got me started running 7 years ago (had seriously never run more than a mile, and I hated it!) and I've logged thousands of miles since then!
