Pacifier? Yes Or No?

my baby is almost months she is a pretty calm baby only cries when she is hungry and needs a diaper change, she just recently started sucking her hands alot even when im done feeding her, should i give her a pacifier?? I never gaved her one and im breastfeeding, i need advice please first time mom thanks

Re: Pacifier? Yes Or No?

  • Me pediatrician recommended it because you can take a pacifier away, but you can't take their fingers away; causing orthodontic problems in the future. I ebf and my daughter has been taking a pacifier since 4 weeks without any problems.

  • Mine won't take a paci, so sometimes it's not an option.

  • We don't give pacis, except in the car. But DS really just chews it and you have to hold it for him.

  • Hands in mouth is part of development as they learn about their hands.

It's your choice whether or not to offer a pacifier. Our anecdotes shouldn't make the decision for you, especially since all babies are different.

  • My kid sucks his hands all day and hates the paci. As @Kaylajade8911‌ said, it's developmental.

  • Yep, babies suck their hands. Doesn't mean they'll suck their hands as elementary school children. DD also takes a pacifier. It hasn't stopped her hand exploration.

I swear... Give it or don't. It's a freaking piece of plastic. Why is this such a big deal all of a sudden????

    And what hapened to punctuation?
Now I feel bad for my pacifier question. Just kidding! I don't. Also... !?':.,;?'!:.,;! (Just in case I forgot any ;-) )

  • We started DD on the pacifier on day 1.  I wouldn't change it for anything!  She is fed only breastmilk via breast or bottle, she hasn't experienced any nipple confusion.  She enjoys her paci and it calms her down instantly.  It works great for us - in my experience, i recommend it.

  • LO loved the paci but now that she discovered her hands taste good she hates it. She actually manages to throw it out of her crib yesterday. Not sure how as it was dark but all of a sudden I hear it hit the edge of the crib and onto the floor.
