New to this Birth Month :)

Hello Ladies!

I am Chavon. I am pregnant with son #2 and we are due March 17th. I was 17 days early with my first son and they say the second one comes quicker, so I am expecting a Feb baby, but am hoping for a fully baked and ready March baby :)

I was just told I have GD! And I am looking into if I will need bed rest as I work a high stress, never allowed to leave my desk, finance job and it's very hard for me to get in walks, get the rest I need working 10+ hour days and eat something healthy instead of somethign convenient. ALSO, ALL my cravings are sugar and fat! :-( Anyone in the same situation? GD? Possible bed rest? Or already on bed rest? I would love to know whats going on with you and how you're dealing. Also, I am interested to know who is on bed rest due to GD and if thats a thing.

OK Bye! Happy baby cooking! :) heehee

Hi. I'm not on bed rest and it hasn't been brought up by any of my doctors. The GD thread has a lot of info that you might find helpful.

GD is managed by diet and sometimes medication. I've never heard of anyone being put on bed rest for it. Bed rest is typically for issues that cause pre-term labor or are more immediately dangerous to your baby. Your OB will probably refer you to a diabetes specialist and you'll have to change your diet. We have a great check in thread around here somewhere, Id reccomend getting involved there!

Welcome. I've had GD with both pregnancies and GD does put you at a slighter risk for preterm labor but does not warrant bed rest. You will meet with a dietitian to go over diet and learn how to check your sugar levels. Most GD is controlled by diet but always a possibility of being put on medication or insulin. We have a weekly GD check in thread that is great and has some awesome and supportive ladies on it

Surely your company will work with you to modify your position temporarily while you deal with this? Talk to your HR department. Even going part time or allowing more breaks would be better than having an employees out entirely.

Welcome. Our GD thread is great and I'm sure you could find it very useful. But no mention of bed rest on my end. If anything they want us getting more exercise.
