What does your baby do?

I'm wondering if I should be doing something else with my LO all day. She spends most of her day in her bouncer. She naps in it and plays on it, and I'm wondering what everyone else does with their LO all day. Is it bad that she spends so much time in her bouncer?

My baby is held most of the day. At 7 weeks she doesn't have much quiet alert time and is either sleeping, eating, or fussy. She also hates being put in her lounger or bouncer...she also hates being worn. DH calls her a diva baby.

I get maybe five minutes at a time in each and some tummy time on her play mat and call it a day.

I'm really bad about exposing my LO to different things. She spends most of the day on my lap with some tummy time (if I can remember). I talk to her but I run out of things to say, I try to sing to her but I don't remember the words. We got an activity mat for Christmas so she does spend sometime on that but she cries after 10 mins.

I have a lot of anxiety over not stimulating LO enough. Usually in the morning he has some diaper free time and I'll read him a few books or show him some toys. He does tummy time and enjoys his playmat for about 10 minutes. I'll often just talk or sing to him while I'm doing things. While folding his laundry yesterday I described the colour and pattern on his clothes and told him what I was doing as I made dinner. We don't do all the things everyday, but I try to make sure we get some good playtime in.

When she naps in get bouncer should I move her to a crib instead?

We alternate between being held, snuggling, Moby Wrap and bouncer. Some times we go through one of his Sassy or Bright Baby books and look at the pictures. He is not a fan of the swing, he'll stay in 5-10 minutes at most and never really look happy about it. Since I noticed him paying attention to the TV, I have been trying to watch less. If he goes to sleep and stays asleep I put him in his crib for a nap. We try to do some tummy time every day. My husband just put together his play mat today.

We read to her a lot and "dance" with her. We also use her playmat -- she'll spend 10 minutes quietly looking at and batting the mirror, which lets us at least put her laundry away and restock diapers, etc.

We also show her Christmas ornaments on the tree (she of course loves the sparkly ones) and walk around the house showing her the art (a lot is brightly colored so she'll stare for a while).

We've just graduated to giving her the Infantino soft blocks to play with and she'll actually be entertained for a few minutes.

Not much you can do at this stage though! I'm sure you're doing great

When he is awake we do tummy time, talking/singing, activity mat, swing if I'm trying to be productive, or read! We read a lot

Since I spend all day trying to figure out what he wants.....he usually hits up every baby holding device at least twice per day. Some days he likes one thing more than another. He visits the playmat, his swing, his bouncer, his boppy pillow, his pack n play......I even use the crib or rock n play during the day sometimes. When I do laundry, I lay a baby blanket on the bed and he hangs out with me. He doesn't always like it though.....some days he doesn't like any of these things. When nothing makes him happy, he gets tummy time!!! Lol....I give him a reason to cry!!! He is laying on my chest right now cause he is having one of those days. I try not to hold him too much though so he doesn't become dependent on it. He gets held during every feeding....and as often as he eats....he gets lots of cuddles.

We do give him a bath every evening. He loves bath time. We figure since he can't really do much of anything, we might as well let him do something he enjoys.

I make sure to try to talk to Jackson when he is awake and to wear or hold him as much as possible everyday. He gets some tummy time on me everyday but I also try to get him some tummy time on his playmat. I also try and keep a rattle handy to work on his tracking skills everyday. Then most days I read him a book or two, have him play on his playmat with some mirror time, dance around with him, play music for him, and generally just try to pay attention to him when he is awake. I'm think I'm doing okay for his age and the only other thing I'd like to do is expose him to other languages through TV or music so he has an ear for them.

This is me. I've realized I only know the first two lines to every song.

My boy is almost 7 weeks, and I've been worried all along that I'm not doing enough play or mental stimulation. His favorite pastime is staring at lights. I joked that we are never taking down our Christmas tree since he enjoys it. He does enjoy the play mat and tummy time. If he's having quiet alert time I leave him be so I don't disrupt the force.

Claire gets tummy time every morning as I make my coffee and eat my breakfast. She's usually annoyed but I've learned to tune out the crying because I know she needs it.

She spends time in her swing, bouncer, or boppy lounger. I'll frequently put the lounger only legs as I'm sitting in the recliner and sit her up and talk to her. She loves that, as well as looking at toys while lounging.

We do lots of tummy time on our chests too.

Louie's mostly propped up on my legs staring at me when he's awake. I usually talk to him (generally about what I'm watching on TV or reading here) or singing. I do put him in the swing or in his activity mat when I need to get things done. I reserve the Moby for when I need to do something at his feeding time. He sleeps on his tummy, so we don't worry about tummy time during the day.

X2 the boppy lounger is so great, I drag it everywhere so she can sit with me in different places around the house. When were in the kitchen I try to explain everything I'm doing like she's a test audience for my food network show.

Acting like you're your own TV channel also works well while putting on makeup or doing your hair.

If she's not in the mood to listen to me we'll just get in the rocking chair and do some quiet shhing.

I don't really think you have to "try" to stimulate a newborn. Have you seen how long they stare at a light??? Id be more worried about overstimulting them right now. Lo spends lots of time on her swing, a little tummy time, lots of holding and rocking when fussy and lots of smiles/talking on the changing table

V has only been in her bouncer ... six or seven times I think? It lasts about ten minutes. I used it once while I was in the shower (I usually wait until she's napping), and she played with a rattle the whole time. That was the longest stretch.
She actually sat in the bumbo for several minutes yesterday! That holds promise.
I'm usually holding her while walking & talking, dancing, reading, or playing with toys. She has tummy time on the playmat at least once a day. I'm trying to just let her be a little more often so she can get used to me not being RIGHT.THERE at all times, but we both like cuddles and songs and books and things... it's hard to put her down!

I either carry LO or wear him, but he has been spending way more time on his play mat or in his bouncy chair because I am trying to pack to move and its not easy while holding a baby!!!! I talk to him often but not all the time.

LO actually gets overstimulated by all the christmas decorations. But there is one particular light near my bed that he loves!!! I like to keep him close to me and have had him sleeping with me for the past couple weeks.

I usually give him about ten minutes on the playmat after his morning feed and getting dressed then he sits in his bouncer while I shower and get ready. Then we usually go do something and he takes a nap. At home, most of his time is either sitting in the bouncer or RNP. I hold him a little but he doesn't sleep well when held.

I wish my lo didn't sleep so well when being held lol he slept 2 1/2 hours in his RNP last night and then 5 hours on me in bed after his MOTN feeding lol

Pips spends a good portion of her day in her Boppy Lounger. Effing genius thing. Seriously. She adores just hanging out and taking in the world. I'm not looking forward to the day she outgrows it. Like @ssstephanie214‌, I take it everywhere in the house. Not to mention any time we got to visit the grandparents, or friends, you can bet it goes with. I particularly love to set it on the play mat so that the loop of dangling toys are within her reach. It's the only time Pips makes an effort to reach for anything other than my fingers or hair.

Aside from the lounger, she likes to sleep with her daddy, not so much with me, unless she's really tired. When she's in my arms she wants to be awake, preferably moving (or eating) and really would prefer to be talked or sang too if she t her way all the time. Lucky for me I never shut up, according to my family and friends.

I do wish I could get her to enjoy tummy time, but it really just pisses her off. She hates to be on her tummy. I keep trying, in the hopes that she'll warm up to it, but not as of yet. I actually feel a little guilty for not making her spend more time on her tummy, but she just hates it so much.

LO eats, sleeps on me, DH, RNP (but not PNP yet), enjoys her baths after diaper blowouts, hanging out on her new activity mat, and spitting up. The spitting up is beginning to be a hobby. :-&

I agree with PP that ceiling fans and lights are the shit to these littles. Claire is fascinated with them. And the photo (of a sunset) above our fireplace...OMG, it's THE BEST THING EVER.

Their little minds are so cute. I love how I can see her brain working, trying to figure out things.

Hangs out on my boob, sleeps and entertains us with smiles during some of her wakeful periods. Only use the play mat here and there. Will probably get more use out of it in the coming weeks. She's not a big fan of the swing we have. Today was the first time she was in it for about 10-15 min while I hopped in the shower. Otherwise, she's being held or worn in a carrier if I need free hands.

This makes me feel better. I always feel like I'm not doing enough. My husband tells me we do plenty but little one looks so sad just sitting in his swing looking around. I think he inherited my natural frown so that's why he looks so sad.

Cam spends a lot of time on the activity mat and laying on his back on the couch swatting at toys I put in front of him (he's starting to grab them momentarily *gasp*). He also sits up propped on the couch and sits in my lap an awful lot. He doesn't like carriers anymore, sadly, but loves being held. He also really likes playing in his crib and swinging.

Tomorrow we're getting him a jumper because he seems to want to jump and holds his head completely still through movement at this point with no issues.

Tummy time is lackluster at best. Doc says he should be doing at least an hour a day. How the heck do you do that with a big headed baby that HATES tummy time?!?!

@sparklingwhit‌ - that's why Im saying!! My kid has a big ass head and after about 5 minutes he's exhausted. It's kinda funny lol but then I feel guilty because he's not getting in enough Tummy time. Meh.

Ya, I made that excuse to the doctor. Like, you just got done telling me that he's in the 95th % for head size on a 45% frame and you're wondering why we don't do tummy time much?
