Are there any moms here who are a type 1 (juvenile) diabetic? I have had type 1 30 years and this is my second baby. Would love to chat with another type 1. Thanks!
Thank you. I have been having a lot more lows with this baby than my first. My husband already had to call the paramedics once. I have my first US tomorrow - hopefully baby is fine & doing well. My first was born three days before my due date (induced) and is 100% perfect. I hope for the same with number 2.
@Holly9239 I posted on the high risk too. I have had many ups and downs. Was hospitalized at 6 weeks due to extremely high and unpredictable sugars, finally got that regulated, then at week 10 dropped to 23 and passed out no fun. They told me I'm not allowed to work and have to be under constant supervision until I am out of the insulin sensitive stage (husband is deployed). So I am home with family for another month or so! Hoping the next stage won't be so drastic or they will put me on bed rest!
How is everything going? I am already on double the amount of insulin (carb count ratio has gone up huge). I was curious about standards of care for everyone else...I am going to start my NSTs at 32 weeks and I have to have an ultrasound every two weeks starting at 28 weeks. I will be induced at 39 weeks if everything is going well (baby stays within normal size range). Are you all about the same? How are you guys preparing for the big day?
@saltbox40 sounds good! I am not sure about this babe's size, been told he/she is in the normal range so hopefully good. I wore CGMs for my whole pregnancy with my son and he was born at 39 weeks at 8lbs 6 oz so I know the CGMs are super helpful.
I am having more insulin resistance than I did last time, so I am a bit worried about that.
I have set up having donor breastmilk in case this baby is born with low blood sugar (I was put on IV dextrose during the c-section and my son was born with a low BS because of that and they gave him formula to raise it - don't want that this time).
@saltbox40 : I am part of a mommies group from my first born and asked some of the moms, who already have their second, if they would donate for me. All the moms were willing - it's a great group of ladies. But yeah, I try to keep dairy out of my son's diet (and will do the same with this baby) as it's a trigger for diabetes.
I agree with having more cooking time if you can. So happy my OB is letting me go to 39 weeks.
Insulin resistance is pretty bad this time around. I like tight control and I have often had numbers in the 200 range that were sticky. I have upped my basal rates every day for the last three days.
