Happy New Year! January Fitness Challenge

I'm not too good with year long resolutions so I'm going to try to get through one month.

I'll be doing the LBD challenge and trying to walk a mile every day either wearing my 17 lb'er or pushing our stroller.

  • I've done a whole 30 before. It was a great experience. I'm cutting back on gluten and sugar. I'd like to learn how to cook more with quinoa instead of rice.

  • @nanabanana06‌ do you know if crunches are okay postpartum? I've heard mixed things. Baby is 4mo old.
    Crunches should be fine if your ab muscles aren't separated still.

  • I found a really cool app called 30 Day fitness challenges. It has an exercise library with links to YouTube if you aren't sure of the exercise plus it'll remind you to do your challenge. It has different challenges based on the different muscle groups.

  • I'm doing LBD again, but trying to do them better/with less breaks in the middle of reps.  Also I really want to start eating better.  Starting with not eating the candy my kids got for Christmas.  Why do people think kids need candy for Christmas?

  • I'm doing a 9 weeks to a 5k program with the local running store I used to work at (I used to be a coach for the program but have lost all my fitness.) Also, not fitness related, but food wise, I'm doing a Whole30.
    DH and I are doing Whole 30, too!  We're starting on the 5th and he has a couple of people in his office doing it as well.  We tried doing it this summer twice and ended up only doing it for a week each time.  I'm hoping that DH's office mates will help us hold ourselves more accountable.  I'm excited about it.

  • Those that are going LBD. What is the difference between a press up and a push up?

    I did them as push ups. Day one is the only time they show up.

  • Chad and I are doing the squat challenge. I am also going to do arms with free weights, but I have to throw some stuff together. All the arm challenges had core stuff and my abs are still split. :(

  • May I join in? Lurker here, I've participated in the swap thread a bit (under a different name) and I've been around for almost a year. I tried doing a plank challenge in November but had no one to keep me motivated so I quit around day 21. Seeing that there are so many already doing the lbd, I checked it out and think I'll give it a try also. Since going back to work from maternity leave a little over a month ago, my weight has completely plateaued and I've still got about 25 lbs of baby weight to lose. You ladies are great inspiration and will for sure keep my butt in gear!

    I'm also going to try to do a water challenge. I have been really shirking on drinking enough water, so I'm going to work on that this month. Does anyone know how many ounces to shoot for?

    I'm also going to try to do a water challenge. I have been really shirking on drinking enough water, so I'm going to work on that this month. Does anyone know how many ounces to shoot for?

    It depends where you look. I shoot for a gallon. Some sources say an ounce a pound.

    I'd like to lose weight in hopes of getting PG again soon.

    i'm so intrigued by the fitbit.  i think i really want one.  but then i'm afraid i won't make good use of it.  you'll have to give me a review of it once you get it.
    does anyone else have one and have any thoughts on it?


    I've had something like it before when I was doing Crossfit/riding my bike. It was cool to see how much I was moving. It was a little inaccurate on the bike bc it didn't have GPS. I'm excited but worry it will annoy me in my wrist all day since I'm at a computer.

    I got it for free through wellness program at work, so I figure it isn't costing me anything.

  • W e want to get a FitBit, but we're going to wait until Razer's version of it comes out. The Nabu with be like the FitBit, but cheaper and with more functions. Plus we're nerds that use only things from the nerd company. :P
