I use the todoist app and the Microsoft exchange calendar, which syncs to my phone. I need everything to be accessible electronically. I also invite my H to my evening meetings and other times he needs to be in charge of C.
So soon I will get DH a new phone and hook him up with apps. I have the cozi app. I still have a physical planner. Let me update cozi now.
Does anyone have a good bill payer app? Maybe something I can put the bank account amount in and it automatically calculates the remainder after upcoming bills. I think mint is after the fact right?
I insist on having a paper planner. I splurged on one from an Etsy shop for 2015 and I love it so far.
It has a monthly view, then on the weekly view it has spaces broken down for myself, H, LO, family events and work. It came with stickers in the back as well that fit in both the monthly and weekly spaces. Each month contains a bill planning page, too.
I have a calendar on my fridge for SO where I put in specific times and dates for things. I then also have a planner for myself from school, but I use that for homework and appointments. I also have a whiteboard that has our menu for the week, rolling shopping list, and chore lists. I'm far from super organized, but I'm organized enough to not go crazy.

I'm a touch I obsessed with it if you can't tell.
Obsessed? I'm in a planner FB group.
A whole FB group devoted to just planners!?!? Or does it have time management/organization tips, etc. as well?
I use a paper planner. I was using a small at a glance calendar with days, but @mcbenny talked me into a bigger at a glance with month and day views. I do a lot of what she does. Bills, meetings, etcetera on the month view and more detail on homework assignments on the day views.
I need a paper planner. Apps don't cut it for me. Too fussy adding things in, and I like having calendars and to dos in one place. I also remember things better when physically writing them.
I used bound planners for years (Moleskine, Barnes & Noble, then Erin Condren) but then I decided I preferred a binder-style setup because I like being able to add and remove leaves. I use my planner for lots of different things (goal planning, for instance), so the pages in a bound planner are never just so.
I also notice that to keep me engaged with using my planner, it helps to constantly be tweaking what I'm doing. The ring-bound planner helps me do that.
I also like adding in pockets and dividers as desired.
I use the month view as an overview for travel planning and bigger (day-long) events. I am trying to move to using it for more project and goal planning as well.
I have a vertical week view (each day is a column) that I use for smaller events, for to-dos, for day-to-day scheduling.
Most of my bills are auto-deducted from my checking account, but I put the bill in red and my paydays in green on the month view, so I see where paydays will be vs when bills will be deducted so I know whether I need to move money around.
Otherwise I don't color-code because I don't find that the benefit of it is worth the extra effort.
I have used the "Mint" app for money, but other than being able to see different bank account balances in one place, I didn't find it hugely useful. My own bank's website does help show what you'll have left after different bills are paid.
I am constantly on the lookout for a productivity app that will work for me. My main one right now is 30/30. I have ADHD and really, really, REALLY struggle with time management and remembering shit. I cannot tell you how many times I have forgotten major things because ... I dunno even because. Because I forgot to write them down, or because I forgot to check the place I had written them, or I just...I don't even know.
30/30 gives me a list of tasks to do, the length I need for each task, and it alarms me with the next task at each transition. That is part of how I remember to CHECK my planner, hence me mentioning it. I have two different morning sequences (one for workout mornings and the other for non workout mornings) and an evening sequence.
Somehow I do remember to use the app. Occasionally I go through phases where I think I don't need it, though! That way lies disaster.
I use a Plum Paper planner (Etsy). Too many meetings at work to keep track of meetings on paper. I also put our personal appointments on it and DH's phone is also synced to my calendar. Bills are written in green on the montlh view of the paper calendar.
But I am also intrigued about these planner groups on FB.
I have the Plum Paper one as well. I was going back in forth between that and an Erin Condren one. I was gifted an Etsy gift card, so my mind was made up for me.
I ordered some of the Erin Condren accessories for it and they should be here Saturday. I can't wait.
I'm going to look into 30/30. I have two paper planners. One is for work and the other is for personal things. I have to write every little detail down or I won't remember anything. I also have a big white board with whatever is going on at the shop and around the farm so H and I can plan everything else around that.
Usually I set a start time for getting things done. Like right now I have that I will start upstairs putting things away at 4pm. Sometimes it's based on the end of an episode on prime.
I do a 10 minute clean up. It gets a lot done but I don't feel like I've been cleaning all day.
Oohh, I haven't used it in a while, but this reminds me that there is an app called "Unfuck Your Habitat" (ufyh on the app store) that is meant for this, complete with cleaning challenges and everything
It is full of profanity and I enjoy it. It is like Flylady except without the cheesy hurk factor and with many more fucks.
I need to write everything down. I have used an At-A-Glance planner for years. Its small/thin enough to keep in my purse.
YES!
I've learned I need a good ol' pen & paper.
Those At-A-Glance pocket planners are the best. I'm sure I could color code appointments because I have 4 people I need to keep track of, but I wouldn't be able to erase if there is a change. Last I checked they don't make eraser colored pens...if they do that would be something to consider.
I also don't wait to add to my calendar, as soon as I have a date I write it down otherwise I'll forget.
The pocket calendar I have also keeps track of pay days as well.
For bills i have created a word doc with all of our bills (uncleared while deducted from our account). Upcoming pay as well as deductions for that day too.
Its more complicated than an app, yes, but it keeps us organized even with my ADHD issues
My paper planner looks chaotic and scribbled. I do caculations in empty squares or days that have passed. I dont write perfectly straight. I tell myself I will keep it neater but sometimes I find comfort in the chaos.
As long as it works I feel there is no wrong or right way.
You are so right @mcbenny. DH thinks I'm too hard on myself. This home organization is taking a toll because I just want to be done. I'm getting lost in seeing the major progress. Sorry off topic. I just needed that off my chest.

This is why for me, I prefer mini projects. I get overwhelmed and quit.
This is where I am but I can't quit. I think I'm almost there. I finally told DH I need help.
@DC2London can you elaborate a little on the homekeeping binder? I feel like this might help me a ton. Is it just where you keep meal plans, cleaning lists, etc. or does it hold more that I might be forgetting?

Holy hell @DC2London can I pay you to organize me!!?! That's insane and awesome. It would take me until DD is in high school to pull that off.
I have this dream of starting a personal organizing business, but I know it can be really hard to get those types of things off the ground.
But it seems as though you'd be awesome at it!
Thanks for sharing your homekeeping binder. You've inspired me to start one. It seems like it'll be a lot of work in the beginning but once everything is set I suppose it's just keeping everything updated. I'm excited!

It took me a bit of time and energy to set it up, but once I had it in place, it's so easy to maintain.
When I wanted to set it up, I spent 1 hour over a couple of Sunday mornings at Starbucks getting everything sorted, designed, and ready to print. It wasn't nearly as overwhelming as it probably sounds. And I'd be happy to send you links of some of the sites i used for printables.
Anything you would be willing to send I would appreciate!! Thanks dc! You seriously put a new spin on supermom
