Hi Everyone,
I am currently seeing Dr. Barthel through Sherman Hospital after having to switch from my Midwife because I am now high risk. Has anyone delivered here? Any high risk experience? How many people were allowed in the delivery room with you? Were you allowed to eat during labor? Anybody deliver naturally?
Sorry about all the questions. I have been to the ER twice with this pregnancy and am concerned about the level I will get at Sherman.
TIA!!!
Re: Elgin Advocate Sherman Hospital
Hi! I just delievered at Sherman in September and had an excellent experience. I had to be induced due to preeclampsia and everyone was fantastic and supportive. It can be so scary. I would recomend you talk with your doctor about what their normal labor process is. I know some doctors let people eat and some don't. You can also call the Family Birthing Center at Sherman (i think you can call the main number and ask the operator), and they can help answer some of your questions or at least point you in the right direction. I took their childbirth class and found the educational staff to be very helpful.
Good Luck!!
