I think it's tasteless to post a gif of a bloody body on a table regarding a post (albeit lacking a question) - there are plenty of us getting c sections who aren't thrilled or maybe scared and even those of us who are at peace with the decision don't need a reminder of how we are being sliced open....I get annoyed with random threads too but before this gets out of hand with disgusting gifs let's try to be a little mindful of those who may be scared. (I love funny gifs though )
And @britb618, Rest assured, I highly doubt a c-section will look or feel anything like the scene from Alien. At any hospital. Ever. ; ) LOL Sorry I offended anyone, didnt think that would happen. Happy New Years Eve everyone!!
In response to the original post, yes, I am having a RCS on 1/22. I'm not particularly thrilled about it, but it is what it is. If you have questions, feel free to ask.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question but someone told me they would rather have a c section than a vaginal birth, I didn't think it was a choice.. Do any of know if you can choose to have a c section without medically needing one?
Hey J15, I'm a D13 mom lurking around for birth stories. I saw this post and saw that many of you were nervous and I figured I would try and ease your minds about your C, as much as I could. I had a c-section due to high bp. I did choose a c-section over being induced, because at 40+4 my cervix was nowhere near ready to have a baby.
It can be nervewracking, but it can still be a very positive experience. There are birth plans for c section mamas, some even let you have skin-to-skin while they stitch you up, though this is rare, plus you will be pretty shaky. Talk to your doctor about your options. never hurts to ask. Also, you will have an anesthesiologist with you thoughout your surgery. You may become nauseated, let your anesthesiologist know AS SOON as you feel even a twinge of nausea, they can quickly take care of that. If it doesn't go away, tell them it didn't work. You're paying them to keep you comfortable, communicate with them.
I am by no means an expert on C-sections, just a BTDT, and I definitely don't mean to intrude on J15, I just had a great experience with my c, and I don't want any moms to view their c as a bad thing or super scary. It is still a super positive experience, especially when a precious squish comes from it!
Good luck in the months to come, mamas! I'm super excited for you!!
I've actually had women who've gone naturally and had a C tell me they'd do a C again instead if naturally. However, I think they were just trying to make me feel better as I'm a FTM and will b having a C on 1/16 due to placenta previa but I will pretend they meant it :-P lol. My OB did tell me the other day he does have a mom who is electing a C for her own personal reasons, not medically required so ya, I guess it does happen. I've done a ton of research and although I'm still definitely nervous about it, I realize hundreds and hundreds of women go through it each year. As long as u pay attention to ur body (don't rush but don't b lazy) u can recover rather quickly n healthily. Hope everything goes smooth for u n GL :-)
I'm another who had a really easy recovery and was not upset about my first csection, even though it was urgent and nothing went as planned. I'm looking forward to my RCS in a few weeks in the sense that I know what to expect.
My c section went well the first time and although I'm not 'looking forward' to surgery I would also not be 'looking forward' to Vaginal birth. Good luck however you birth your baby most important is that both you and baby are healthy once baby is born!
Re: c section
Thanks for removing the gif, it was definitely too gory for me. I appreciate you being understanding!
