Bras?

Have you bought a nursing bra yet?

I'm tired of squishing the girls into old sports bras! I want something more supportive. Any ideas? Anyone found a good nursing bra?

Re: Bras?

  • I just got nursing tanks, I don't know how supportive they will be once my milk comes in and my boobs grow, but for now, I'm enjoying how comfortable they are.

Did you order them online, or do you know of a good place to do so?

  • I love the padded underwire nursing bras at target! They are comfy, also lacy so they're super pretty!
  • They are called New Recruit. I bought them on base, so I'm not sure if you can order them online or not. But several ladies here recommended the bravada tanks.
  • Thank you! Nursing tanks and bras are my Christmas presents this year, oh joy. I'll look those suggestions up. Thanks girls! ;;)

I've only bought a nursing tank because I have been pregnant before and know what size my boobs will grow to. The last time I tried to buy nursing bras before my milk came in I ended up wasting money because they didn't fit once my milk was in. The bravado nursing tank is what I got so far. I plan to buy a TomGirl bra once I know if they come in my size.

  • I keep meaning to dredge up my nursing bras from last time - they were the bravado ones that target made and they were just fine but not really padded so I can't wear them while I'm still working without nursing pads and that seems a bit ridiculous at this point.

It would be nice to fit something pretty again. (sad sigh)

  • I have a Medela, a Bravado, and a couple of cheapies from Walmart that got good reviews. However my regular bras are still OK - I only ever wear non-underwire, lightly padded (I think they are Warners).

  • I bought nursing bras at Macy's, but only because I had gift cards to use up. They're comfy and really pretty. I just wanted to feel sexy again so I went ahead and bought some before I knew what size I will be when milk and baby get here.

I'm pretty sure my milk has at least partially come in... is that possible?

They've been growing since about 10 weeks. They are ENORMOUS!

  • Yes, I ordered some bras and nursing tank tops on Target and Old Navy over Black Friday/Cyber Monday.  I'm a FTM so I just read over some reviews and bought a variety of stuff that I thought I could wear under my clothes, to bed, and around the house.  I had to guesstimate on size so I won't be washing them until closer to the due date.

I've kept 2 nursing bras from Target & 2 nursing tanks from Old Navy.  The ones with the underwire weren't as comfortable so they were returned.  I ordered a few different sizes and was surprised at how some of the (normally) bigger sizes didn't fit or weren't comfortable.

  • Has anyone tried the motherhood maternity Dita Von teese? They're super cute but it looks like most are wireless and I really need as much support as I can get.

  • I have used Anita maternity and breastfeeding bras for my last 3 kids. Excellent quality. They also have under wired for large sizes extra support. You can buy them online. I usually buy 3 to alternate and they last me the whole 2 year breast feeding cycle, and are still good thereafter. Well worth it.
  • @papapalie‌
No suggestions but that's my problem too. I wore a nursing bra and nursing tank I got from motherhood maternity last time but it was never flattering

  • I looked online last night at a few stores and there doesn't seem to be a big selection and/or availability for nursing bras over 36Ds... I was a 36DD before getting pregnant, this feels like Victorias Secret all over again!

  • Tha Anita bras go up to J size bra. I actually wore a Few size this time round. My books were huge. They gave me lift, support and made them look smaller.
  • Sorry... and F size not a few size.
  • @papapalie‌ Nordstrom can actually convert regular bras into nursing bras (at least the ones here can I would imagine it's like that everywhere).

I just got a sleep bra from motherhood maternity for Christmas. It's not the tshirt kind so it has support and it's pretty comfortable. I might go back and get another one just to hold me over until my milk comes in. I'm a bigger girl (38 DDD) and was impressed with their selection.

  • I am normally a 34G and purchased Elomi nursing bras from Nordstrom. They had quite a few brands for those in need of larger cup sizes. As mentioned by pp, they also mentioned they would convert regular bras as well. Since I was sized in the store and had to order online (we sized up for the nursing bra - 36H) she said I can always return/exchange them if they don't fit once my milk comes in.
  • My breasts are out of control now. I am a 32g or 34g prepregnancy. I have had great success with the Cake "plus size" nursing bra. It is awesome, give it a try.
  • I had to buy new bras early in pregnancy and decided to go with nursing bras so I wouldn't have to buy more later.  I got mine at Kohls, but they recently discontinued their nursing bras.  I was able to get a few on the clearence rack for pretty cheap!

  • I've got huge boobs. I don't even know what size I am right now. I'm Def. Going to invest in good bras. I am going to try the Anita nursing bras after baby comes and I've established my milk supply. I have to have a good supportive bra with wires to hold my girls up in place. My previous bras made my boobs look flat. Very unflattering.

I've heard good things about the Anita nursing bras for large bustier girls.
I asked last year on the BF board, most of them suggested them.

  • I have always gotten my nursing bras at figleaves.com, they have a really big selection for larger cup sizes and not even just plus sizes. They started at like a 28 band.

This one from Target was by far my favorite. It wasn't great support for once I got back to work but by far the most comfortable! I still wear it around the house sometimes (I cannot stand to go braless) and got 2 more for new baby.

  • @BookitBoo  I have a Dita Von Teese from Macys. It's comfortable but I did have to do a quick size exchange. I noticed the larger sizes were completely unflattering and had no support. I originally tried on a 36E, and it did not look good. Tried on a 38DDD, and I look like a porn star.

  • I like the Bravado Body Silk nursing bras, but they aren't much better than a sports bra. Early on I needed something that allowed a lot of room for growth and any bra that required a specific cup size just would not have worked. I went out and bought underwire nursing bras when I was maybe 4 months postpartum. By then I had a better idea of what size I would need. Those last me until I stopped nursing. For now I'm still wearing my regular underwire bras and those are holding up okay, but my bump does kind of push up on the underwire kind of awkwardly.

I could hold you for a million years to make you feel my love.
  • The Bravada nursing tanks are worth the investment. I've lived in them for two weeks

  • Just an FYI... Target has bras Buy 1 Get 1 for 50% off and there's a 20% off coupon for nursing camis and bras!

  • I found large cup size bras (I need an N cup) at bare necessities.com and also on Amazon. For nursing tanks I ended up ordering from Glamourmom.
