Spanish/English names

My husbands family is Hispanic and I am white. We need to find a name that sounds good in both English and Spanish. We do not know what we are having yet so both girl and boy names are needed. Any ideas?!?

Re: Spanish/English names

  • Luciana. Derek. Were the names of my host brother and sister when I was abroad.

But I suggest the name board, they will be more helpful. :D

    Girl names:
    Isabel/Isabella
    Sofia/Sophia
    Nicole
    Gabriella

    Boy Names:
    Nicolas
    Gabriel
    Michael
    Lucas
    Daniel

You will definitely get better answers on the baby name board!

  • I am hispanic and went to school in San Antonio. These are names in my family or friends from school:

Priscilla, Nydia, Natalie, Vanessa, Theresa, Melissa

    Eric, Joseph, Alex, Daniel
  • My SIL is hispanic as well.  All of her kids have a spanish middle name.  For example: Drew Mariano.  Something to consider!

  • My hubs is Hispanic. We chose names we like for the first name and the middle is always a family name and the Spanish version of it.

Nicolas Santiago (DH and his family pushed for him to be Santiago IV. Yeah no. Just no way)

Nathan Miguel (my dad is Michael)

Natalie Consuelo (we both have grandmas named consuelo)

Noah Alejondro (my brother is Alexander and my mom is Alejandra)

No clue for names for baby #5 that's currently baking. Lol
  • I was pushing Paloma for someone else on baby names yesterday so I'll so the same here. It's one of my all time favorite names.

  • Camilla, Selena, Gabriella. I have no boys ideas
  • My daughter's name is Carolina, which we picked because it worked in both languages (though a lot of people pronounce it like the state...). No good ideas for boys.

  • Gabriel
    Veronica
  • I am in the same position. Hubby is from Central America. His name is Ricardo which tends to work in both languages.
  • Mom dad is Peruvian and my mom is white. My dad's best friend growing up was MariaElena, but they called her Malena (rhymes with Elena). I like it, although I don't look like I have any Peruvian in me so people who speak English tend to say "Maleena" and people who speak Spanish don't assume the Spanish pronunciation. So maybe that doesn't work at all! Haha
