I need treatment suggestions please! Have been searching and searching but finding nothing when it comes to my specific symptoms. During my first trimester I noticed a varicose vein on my vulva....researched and found it to be normal so thought nothing of it. Now at 32 weeks I get the bright idea to shave down there for the first time in months, forgetting about the veins. As I was checking to see if I cut myself on accident because of the intense stinging, I noticed now I have about 3-4 bigger veins than before! I have been reading all about the regular symptoms that go along with having these (heaviness feeling, pain), I am finding nothing on burning or stinging. Did I just really irritate with the shaving??? It only burns in the areas with the veins and is KILLER while using the restroom.......or walking........or sitting.......or standing!!! Anyone else come across this problem or have ideas for a quick relief?? Much appreciated!
Wow...thanks for the sound advice ladies. As if we all aren't struggling enough with issues during pregnancy....getting made fun of was what I was hoping to accomplish with this post! Well done

We're actually a super supportive group. We just don't ask Internet strangers about our v jay jay's. Call your doctor, that's what they're for. We're not OB's nor do we stare at mcpreg vaginas all day.

Jokes were mixed in with serious advice. You should ask your dr about this because I haven't any personal nor professional experience in this area much like the other women who said call a Dr.
True story: we have no fucking clue how to help you and a Dr is your best bet.

Yep. Suggesting you seek medical advice for what is CLEARLY a medical issue. How dare you ladies make fun of her!

You think after today, this month, this trimester, reading the rules of the board, that people would just call their doctors as opposed for looking for sage medical advice about their hoohas on here.
From now on I'm going to answer. Meh you'll probably live, Don't bother your doctor with your medical questions they are way to busy and frankly us bumpies are smarter anyways.
Thanks to everyone who posted. Never said I wasn't seeking medical advice, was just curious if anyone else had this issue. I completely understand that calling my OB is the best option.....just wanted to see if anyone out there had similar problems and suggestions. Didn't mean to cause an uproar!

You didn't cause an uproar, and I don't think anyone is being particularly snarky. We are just having a little fun, it isn't every day that someone comes I asking about their bulging vulva.

I don't think it's that common. I had never even heard of this until my SIL had the same problem with her 2nd baby. She told me what was going on and I was like "huh?!" She said her dr said there was nothing she could do about it and hopefully they would go away after birth. She sat on ice packs to help the pain. That's all I know.

We legitimately want what's best for you and baby's health. You got mad because we all had the same advice but it's the best advice. Maybe next time start by saying that you put a call in to the doc but are hoping for commiseration and experienced advice. Also, go back and get some laughs. Pregnancy is scary and miserable at times so we deserve to have fun with our bullshit symptoms.
Unfortunately I'm the varicose vein queen as far as legs - mine have gone straight horror story during this pregnancy w those nasty things. I've even got bloodclots to boot now and I've learned from my run-ins with the ultrasound techs during dopplers and the vascular surgeon that in some women the veins can also become enlarged in the pelvic region. If the treatment for that area is the same as for my calves and ankles than my dr's have recommended warm compresses, rest, and elevation being that the only 'fix' is going to be the end of the pregnancy when my blood volume will return to normal and the pressure will be resolved. Sorry you are dealing with that - legs are bad enough! Good luck talking to your OB.

Come on now, girls. Raise your hand if you DO NOT have a bulgy vagina at this point in pregnancy.
Thank god I can't see mine myself, otherwise I'd probably be even more upset.
Also, in the wise words of my hubs about how nervous I am for my vaginal exam next week (male OB): "Your doctor gets paid to look at abnormal or pregnant vaginas for a living. He's an expert." Safe bet there is always a worse vagina out there.
On the serious side: just like you can get hemorrhoids (varicose veins in your rectal area), you can also get varicosity swelling in your labia. It happened towards the end of my previous pregnancy--my 5th. I was horrified and they were killer uncomfortable. My midwife felt bad for me and advised tucks/witch hazel, sitz baths, getting time on hands and knees (or any position that doesn't increase pressure on the area).
So, so sorry for you, OP. Mine went away after a couple of weeks, and before delivery.
