High-Risk Pregnancy

gd dinner ideas

The last 2 days my after dinner number has been slightly high. I thought yesterday was a fluke because we were at a party and the choices weren't great (not a single veg around) but it was higher again tonight so I need to get that under control better. What are your go to dinners for gd? I'm also going to incorporate a little bit of exercise right after too.

Re: gd dinner ideas

  • I would just google/pinterest it. That is what I had to do for different lunch ideas. I usually just make supper like I always have and make sure I throw in extra veggies.
My numbers last night were high and I realized it was the flour I used on the porkchops. We rarely fry food anymore and I just didn't think about it until a lady at church mentioned it. Her son is insulin dependant.

You can't go wrong with a meat, large serving of veggies and a small side of starch (potato, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, wheat bread, etc.). I can have some pizza (thin or whole wheat crust is best!), Chicken Tortilla Soup, Beef Stew, Dreamfields or Barilla high fiber/protein pasta (even with red meat sauce) has been ok for me. Tacos with corn or whole wheat tortillas. Hamburgers with a whole wheat bun.

A lot of canned soups (broth based) are pretty low carb, so you can have a side of wheat bread. Grilled cheese on whole wheat bread is OK, better if I put some meat in it, too.

As long as you're getting enough protein and limiting the carbs, I find I can eat pretty "regular" I just have to have more self control! :)

  • Baked chicken breast marinated in Italian dressing and green beans. Have some potatoes or a fruit also.

    Soup soup soup!

I eat a lot of smart ones meals that are 45 carb or less for dinner because they're quick and I often have to eat dinner ay work. I have good numbers after.

I am also lucky that spaghetti with whole grain pasta is also doable.

I'm a third timer and I think a lot of this is just knowing what works for your body. :) good luck!

  • Tacos made with Trader Joe's organic taco shells, cheeseburgers with Dave's 60 calorie organic bread for the buns, spaghetti squash (I don't eat pasta and the spaghetti squash is an awesome substitute), Indian chicken tikka masala, and dinners out of the Primal cookbooks.
