positive spina bifida test??

in 2nd Trimester
My doctor called me twice today, I'm at work, and it turns out we've tested positive for spina bifida. My doctor said that this isn't a problem yet but that I have to have a special ultrasound tomorrow by a high risk doctor ( I think she said that, my heart was pounding in my ears). Is this common? Has anyone else tested positive and then had no problems?? Sorry, I'm not making sense, I'm scared. :/

    My cousin-in-law just went through this.  They were worried sick of course, but at the u/s everything looked good. 

    Different situation, but DS was born with a dimple on his spine so deep they couldn't see the bottom of it.  They ordered an u/s when he was 36 hours old and it all turned out fine, he does not have spina bifida. 

    Hope everything looks good at your u/s!

    @Knottie72849702‌ yep this just happened to me with the quad screen but with Down Syndrome. My quad screen came back positive with a 1 in 20 chance of our baby having Down Syndrome. We had a level II ultrasound and everything looked normal but we were told that ultrasounds can't always pick up Down Syndrome. We spent a lot of time worrying and crying and we decided to take the Harmony test which actually looks at the baby's DNA. After all of our worry everything was fine and baby does not have any chromosomal abnormalities. I believe ultrasounds are a LOT better at detecting spina bifida. Anyways my point is that the quad screen results are NOTHING to worry about. I regret wasting my time worrying about those results when they just let you know that something MIGHT be wrong, not even that something is probably wrong.     With DD, the quad screen came back with a positive marker for Spina Bifida. She does not have it. She is a perfectly healthy 2 year old.

    Same thing happened when I was born, although the doctor told my mom that I definitely had spinal bifida, and it turns out I definitely don't.
