Trouble TTC

Wedding Dress a TOTAL BUST

So my wedding dress came and holy shit it doesn't really look like the dress that was online. That is what I get for buying something online. So I made an appointment for David's Bridal for Sunday (uggggg!). I might try to get a bridesmaid dress that is ivory or champagne so that it's not too weddingy. I don't know. I'm so depressed about the whole thing. And it didn't fit either, even though I gave them measurements so I think they have all these dresses in a warehouse and just mail them out when an order comes through, def not custom measurements. So again, I'm super depressed with the dress, with my weight with everything.

Me: 33, DH: 32

TTC: 2 years
Fertility blood tests all normal
Tilted uterus
3 day ultrasound 17 follicles
HSG: 11/13/13- tubes open
DH SA: SUPER sperm (145 million, 84% motility, 22% morphology)
All infection disease and immunity blood tests NORMAL

FIRST IUI May 2014: 100 mg Clomid days 5-9, third ultrasound CD 13 revealed four follicles 27, 24 and 20 and 13mm. Trigger shot May 28 with IUI May 29 and 30 (fingers crossed) - BFN started spotting 11DPO :(

IUI #2 B2B 6/23 and 6/24, three mature eggs and 130 million sperm! FX this is the month!  BFN 7/8

3rd cycle benched due to cysts - TI with OPK tests -  BFN

3rd mediated cycle: Clomid+Trigger+TI  (three follies left side, one on right as usual....what the hell right ovary get it together and produce some damn follicles!) 7DPO progesterone level 43 with NO suppositories YAY for a natural strong ovulation. Beta canceled started spotting 13DPO - Third time is not a CHARM! 14 day cycle WTF! Everything looks normal - RE wants to start injectables next cycle so this cycle I'm benched

Officially benched until March....but still plan on trying the baking soda douche due to my excessive and thick CM

JANUARY SIGGY CHALLENGE...This is so me!

  • @Tiko99‌ that sucks!! I am so sorry! Online shopping always seems to go this way for me! But it sounds like you gave your measurements?? How frustrating! I remember being so discouraged going to try on dresses and realizing they ran small. I'm usually an 18 and ended up buying a 22. Keep that in mind when you go in that they run small! What matters most is that you love the way you look in your dress! I'm sure you'll find a dress that is exactly what you pictured it to be!

    TTC since Jan 2013      Me=25   DH=26

Me: PCOS; I do not ovulate on my own...like ever. All other tests came back good.

Hubby: SA came back in the normal range.

Medicated Cycle #1: Letrozole 5mgs days 3-7, trigger when eggs are ready: total bust...u/s 12/23-lots of little follies. u/s 12/26 follies grew 1mm 1 in each ovary. u/s 12/28 no growth. OPKs for hopeful ovulation, if not progesterone on CD35 to induce next cycle w/5mg letrozole CD 3-7, add follistim CD 8. UPDATE: Positive OPK 1/1 and 1/2, very unexpected and unlikely that I'd ovulate this cycle! :)

  • I am sorry the dress was a bust. I am so vindictive that I would be writing reviews on this company and complaining about the false advertising.
I am the same way! My cousin ordered her dress for my wedding from a website because she didn't want to go to a store and it came in 3 sizes too small and not even the same material! We blasted them on their website!

That being said... @Tiko99‌  good luck at David's they are so helpful their and I am sure you will find something perfect!

Good luck at David's Bridal.  I'm sure you will find something that makes you feel beautiful!

Impatiently Waiting CD1 to try again with Fermara Back on the bench due to giant cyst,
who know I'd ovulate on my own after a cancelled cycle and end up with a mega cyst :(

Not at all!!! You have to do what you have to do! Go and enjoy the experience.. the salespeople are so helpful they won't steer you in the wrong direction.  When I was looking, I went alone a couple of times because I found it easier than having 5 different opinions!

  • Sorry this happened. Hope the return process isn't too hard.

It's not lame to go by yourself. Unless you feel like you need somone else to see it and give an opinion. You can always take pictures and text them to others or post them here for thoughts/support! I hope you find something you like!

  • So sorry!!!! I hope you find something awesome at David's! And it's not lame at all to go by yourself-- I went dress shopping initially with my MOH and my mother and decided on a dress I ended up changing my mind about, and when I went back I went solo and it was easier to relax and focus. I ended up finding something perfect with just me and a sales lady! Good luck!!

  • No it's not lame at all to go dress shopping by yourself - like others have said, it's actually easier that way. Less stressful, less expectations, everything.

If I were you, I'd look through the website before you go and write down the item numbers of dresses you are considering. I went there once for a bridesmaid dress and I just said "i need something that comes in your Champagne color" and that was WAY too broad for the girl helping me. I tried to pick something, but it was overwhelming looking through the racks and I didn't know what color anything came in. I ended up leaving without choosing something and then I went back later armed with 7-8 item numbers and it worked out much better!

David's bridal has a lot of options that come in a lot of sizes - so I'm sure you'll find something you love!

  • I am so sorry about the dress! That sucks! I hope you find something amazing at David's Bridal. They usually have some good dresses. I like your idea of getting a champagne colored bridesmaid dress.

Also, there is nothing wrong with going dress shopping by yourself! I went a few times by myself. For one of them I Face Timed a friend, so it was like she was there. I hope you get an awesome sales lady to pamper you.

    Good luck!!

+1   I didn't go wedding shopping by myself, but I wish that I did in hindsight.   I am so sorry about the bait and switch with your wedding dress!!  I would give them an earful with the return as well!
+1 to this. I got too much feedback and, while I liked my dress in the end, am pretty sure I would've ended up with a vastly different style if I'd been just listening to my own thoughts.  Definite advantages to going solo, and either way, not lame!

Another vote for not lame here....I just took my mom to the place I wanted to buy from and while I loved my dress I felt later that I discounted a fluffy number that I liked too early based on her feedback. I must have gone to 5 other places on my own, just to try on & window shop different styles - it was a blast :). Enjoy! Also, David's feels commercial, but you are not getting a higher quality product most other places. It's all kind of a racket, so enjoy the mirrors & sparkle.

Oh, and remember to bring along some spans & a push up bra! I got a hilarious lecture at my fitting about how the girls were too low & small & needed some help! :)

Oh, Tiko, I'm so sorry. Just remember, it's not your fault! If they can't make a gorgeous dress to flatter your beautiful body, they're at fault.

David's Bridal can be really nice! I still regret not buying an ivory ballgown dress covered with embroidery there that looked like something Princess Anastasia would wear. :( Hopefully you will find something you love!

  • Boo to the company that sent you what is basically the wrong dress!
But yeah, it's not lame to get your dress on your own. I hear it's usually better actually, since you don't have to deal with hearing other people's opinions (which I guess are probably going to be based on the kind of dress they would want to wear, as opposed to what you want).
