Arching Back on Changing Table

DS has always fussed and cried a little bit when I laid him down on the chnging table (he always stops when I sit him up,) but today when I laid him down he kept arching his back so it was totally up off the table. Has anyone experienced this? It is a symptom of something or just extra fussiness? I am pretty sure he is teething really bad right now. Could it be connected to that? Any insight is appreciated.

    it gets worse, wait till he tries to roll and arch at the same time.  I've changed DS on the floor several times and also done some wrestling moves...lol

    I'd say it's more related to his age than anything...DS has only gotten worse, as PP said. My trick is I have a stuffed lion that he LOVES but he only gets to hold it when he's on the changing table. That keeps him occupied during the change, not to mention more safe :)

    It will get much, much worse if he's anything like my ds. It started with a little fussing and now diaper and clothing changes are all out wrestling matches. I'm seriously about ready to let the kid run around naked and diaper free. It has to be easier to clean up pee than to change his diaper :)

    DS also started that around 7 months old. It's way worse now- rolling, arching. trying to sit up in the middle of changing, grabbing his diaper, etc. Soooo...I started handing him a toy to play with at the table, and also sing to him. That's the only way I can get him calm enough for a few seconds for a change!

    My DD likes arching and lurching for a back corner ... so she's twisting and rolling at the same time ... great!

    I found a few moments of some belly tickling and a song does wonders.  I usually sing 'the wheels on the bus' so I can roll her ankles and keep her distracted, laughing and straight on the changing table. It also makes it much more enjoyable for me.

    My darling daughter just turned 4 years old.

    DD's favorite move is the "twist and pee."  She twists the top half of her body in an attempt to get away from me while peeing at the same time.  Good thing she's not a boy. lol

    dd started doing that about 2 months ago.  it just gets worse as they get bigger and stronger...  sometimes my dd starts it the minute she sees the changing table.  lots of fun...

    Thanks for the insight ladies, he tries to sit up too, but he can't sit on his own yet, so it's not as much of a problem. I am just glad to hear that it's normal, although I am def. not looking forward to what some of you are telling is coming.

    I hate to say it but it does get worse.  Changing in our house is a wrestling match.  Arching and rolling and screaming.  We change on the floor most of the time now for safety reasons.  Getting him ready to go anywhere takes about 30 min now...I hate it
