WWYD re: Daycare & picky eating

DD is an extremely picky eater. She's been going to dc for over 2 months now, 3 days/week. She still refuses to eat lunch there. Her teacher suggested that I pack a lunch for her. I want her to eat what the other kids eat and I was hoping that being at daycare would help with her picky eating. It obviously has not. This is a center, not inhome. When she was in home care she'd get meals made specifically for her... She just turned 3 years old. ?

WWYD?

?

TIA?

  • I would probably send in meals that she likes so she'll eat.  Maybe you can gradually have her eat the provided lunch. Good luck!

  • I'd probably send a lunch for her if it were me.  MS is a horribly picky eater and wouldn't eat at MDO for the longest time...and they take their lunch.  When the teachers would suggest to him that he eat a bite or two of his food he'd throw up!  So, I told them not to make him (ask him) to eat if he won't on his own...I'd rather him not throw up his breakfast AND not eat lunch!  He finally came around and started eating a little of his lunch.  He still won't eat much while he's there but at least I feel like if I pack a few things that I know he likes he's more likely to eat a little.

  • I'd just send her lunch. Jayden only eats nuggets, fries, and pb&j. It never matters what the other kids are eating, so he wouldn't eat at all.
