DS (2.5) is starting to protest his naps he never wants to take them anymore but is a grumpy sleepy mess when he doesn't. Idk what to do! He never really liked his naps before but it never really was a struggle. Any suggestions?
What time are you putting him down for naps? It's possible that it's too early or late for him now and he can't settle. Depending on his SN a weighted blanket with guidance of an OT may help. Also lavender lotion/linen spray/scentsy may help him relax
Unfortunately he may be reaching the end of naps.
DD (asd 4 yrs old) quit napping just before 3, the transition was rough but the fight to get her to nap and the negative impact on her night sleep wasn't worth it anymore.
We do quiet time in her room now and it works pretty well, she actually will ask for it when she is ready most days because she has realized she needs it.

Each time DS transitioned off a nap it was difficult. It sounds to me like he just doesn't need the nap any more. I know he will be a grumpy sleepy mess for awhile, but he'll get used to it in a week or so. Whenever we dropped a nap it had the side benefit of him going to bed a titch earlier, so there is that. DS dropped his last nap when he was 3 when daycare complained that it was too hard to get him to sleep.
Of course, these story-telling pillows seem super awesome too! (If they weren't $150!!!)
DS can take a 3 hour nap as well and still go back to bed at 8. So apparently his nap strike is pretty common at this age. I got him to take a nap yesterday but I had to lay down with him for him to nap so maybe he still wants his naps? Luckily his sister takes a nap around the same time.
