I thought I'd introduce myself as I'm new to the board and am looking forward to getting to know you. I'm 32 and my DH is 33. We have been married for 7 years and are finally in a place where we're ready for a family. We began trying to conceive this fall and got our BFP on 11/27 (Thanksgiving day!). Things seemed to be going well until our first appt on 12/22 (7w3d) when the ultrasound indicated an empty gestational sac measuring at 6w1d. Dr and ultrasound tech initially tried to say my dates must be off but I have been tracking for 22 cycles and know my body. After explaining this, the dr admitted that she isn't optimistic and its likely a blighted ovum. I'm scheduled for a 2nd ultrasound this Friday 1/2 (9w0d based on LMP) to confirm. Today I started having light spotting so I'm guessing my body is finally figuring out what is going on. I'm not sure whether to wait for a natural miscarriage or just do a D&C and get it over with. Any advice would be much appreciated...
Regardless, I hope to be off the bench soon and officially joining you all in TTCAL. It seems like a great community and I wish you all well.
Edited for typo

Re: Hello ladies - intro/new to board
I'd definitely elect for a d&c again, if needed.
4 Losses (2003, 2008, Apr 2012, & Oct 2012)
All RPL and IF testing with multiple REs = normal
5 IUIs = BFN
All AL are welcome

Fx for good news at the follow up. But if not, I'm so sorry!!!
Many of us on the board have had both natural MCs and D&Cs. While there anecdotes in support of/against both paths, this really is a decision for you to make with your doctor. I hate that you're facing this and wish you peace in this process.
It's also hard for me to give advice, all 3 of mine were natural.
There is a good sticky on the miscarriage/loss board called advice and experience. It's a good place to read others experiences for both.
I wish you luck.
Edit: typo
With my first loss, it happened naturally at 6 weeks. My second loss was discovered at my 9 week u/s. It took about 3 weeks for me to get my d&c (insurance issues). I was hoping that my body would just handle it naturally, but it never happened. I spotted a couple of times, but that's it:/ It's just such a personal decision. I hope you end up having peace in whatever decision you make.
Welcome to the board.

I'm sorry for your loss, but welcome to the board.
I've had a D&C with both of my losses. I started miscarrying naturally with my second, but I was bleeding for about two weeks before my D&C and I would have most likely needed one anyway, given how much was still there.
It's really what you're most comfortable with. Yes, with the D&C, you do get it over with, but it's still surgery and there are risks.
There's also the pill as an option, Cytotec or Misoprostol, but I've heard horror stories about using them.
Has your doctor tested your beta or progesterone levels?

I'm so sorry for your loss. This past year I had one D&C and another natural mc (induced with cytotec). Like other ladies have said, each experience can be so different. The d&c offered instant closure, which I appreciated.
My natural loss seemed to go on forever (it took 50 days for my first period, and I was monitored weekly via blood draws and u/s for leftover tissue and slow dropping levels).
