Hi ladies - anyone still swaddling? I've been reading a lot of the sleep threads and noticed lots of people talking about sleep sacks or magic Merlin's. Wondering if anyone else is still swaddling.
DS is 4.5 months and we are still swaddling. The couple times I tried without were a disaster. He literally wouldn't even go to sleep. If he breaks out of the swaddle he is fine until after the MOTN feeding. Then if he has become I swaddled I need to rewrap him to get him back to sleep.
He was sleeping really well until about a month ago from 630/7 until around 430 straight. Maybe DH would pop in a paci here and there. Now he's regressed up to two wakings a night and multiple fussings. We are working on it by upping his last feeding with nursing and a bottle of pumped milk. But I digress.
Wondering if anyone else is still swaddling and if anyone has info on if it's a bad idea at this age? He's not rolling over back to tummy. Has done tummy to back a few times here and there. In your opinions is it ok to continue swaddling? Any downside? (FYI yes I'm a second time mom but we had DD out of a swaddle at 2 months and she did great. This guys hands are still crazy all over the place and he literally calms down the minute I swaddle him in his halo sleep sack swaddle. We don't swaddle for naps but do wrap a blanket lighly around his arms)
Thanks!

We still swaddle too! DS sleeps best in it and I'm really not looking forward to transitioning him out of it. He's rolled front to back a few times, but not consistently and not back to front yet. We'll probably wait until he rolls from his back or he hates the swaddle before we try going unswaddled.
We stopped, going on 1 week now and he sleeps just a little better in a sleep sac w his arms unswaddled. He was busting out of it and then didn't like the halo swaddle I got so we just stopped.
He rolls to his side to sleep so it is nice he can get comfy. He used to attack his face with his hands but that has actually calmed down quite a bit, I rock him to sleep then place him in the PnP.
We are still swaddling as well. He has rolled back to tummy, but he's not even close to being able to do it while swaddled. The past week or so we have tried one arm out, as well as putting him down un-swaddled for naps, and he wakes up right away.
Thanks for all the responses. Makes me feel better that I am not alone in still swaddling. Last night he freed one arm and slept longer. So I might try leaving that same arm out and see if it helps. Thanks again!

No swaddle because she began to break out of the SwaddleMe. However, it would be a disaster if it wasn't for the merlin sleepsuit. ..she still needs the comfort.
Last night was our first time without the swaddler (LO is a little Houdini and would end up entirely out of her Nuroo by morning. She's also a long little bean pole so she's getting to big for the swaddle, too) - she did okay, from 830-400, which she normally will go until 6 with a swaddle.
We are still swaddling and he is still sleeping in the rock n play. We will transition to the crib unswaddled soon. But he can't roll in the rnp and still likes being swaddled so we are keeping it for now.
My baby loved the swaddle still (almost 5 months), but she was really rolling in bed. We had already moved her out if the rock n play to the crib, so I didn't want to go backwards.
The first night without the swaddle she startled herself a million times and I ended up sleeping with her on the couch. Second night I stuck two of our big pillows from the guest room under her crib sheet. She had a little nest to sleep in and she did much better. Just an idea for when you decide to quit swaddling.

DD is 4 months and we still swaddle. We had attempted a transition. She rolled back to belly in her swaddle before she ever did it without. Now she can do both but can also roll belly to back. However, she loves the swaddle. I have tried multiple times without but she won't even go to sleep. It has always been a part of our bedtime routine and now I think she just associates it to bed. She sleeps in a cosleeper next to our bed. After the holidays when we aren't traveling I am going to attempt the transition again.
We transitioned from swaddle (Halo) and RnP to magic sleepsuit in crib two nights ago and it went amazingly well. She was fighting the swaddle and I think felt cramped in the RnP.
Still swaddling. I'll stop when he consistently breaks out all night long. Right now he doesn't break out every night. DS1 was done sometime between 5.5-6.5 months.
Thanks again!! I feel so much better. Like one if the other posters DS scoots around the crib. Just a little till he's at a particular angle but he never rolls over and rarely breaks out. I guess since with DD we transitioned her out of the swaddle early and with success I was surprised he needed it still. But he's sleeping better with the new swaddle I got him (outgrew his sisters pink hand me down swaddle me lol!) so I bought him the fleece halo sleep sack swaddle and he loves it. If it ain't broke don't fix it right?

Re: Still swaddling?
No harm
Unless they roll over. My DD only sleeps in woombie. I don't plan to stop unless she doesn't love it.

It was nuts. Twice last night I found him on his tummy, fussing, but okay. If he wasn't flipping over, he would still be swaddled.
