Pregnant after 35

Reintro

Well. This is the last place I expected to find myself. But here I am. We got a very unexpected Xmas surprise. The kicker is, I was trying to get back on bcp because my pregnancy/delivery/recovery with my daughter was so unbelievably painful and difficult I knew I just couldn't go through it again...well ins denied my rx and I had to wait until after Xmas to sort it all out with my dr. Ha. Wouldn't have mattered anyway because it was too late.

So I freaked out, completely panicked, told my husband who did not take it well, and now I am trying to jump to acceptance so I can spare my body all the stress. Given my history it may not even be a viable pregnancy but it definitely feels like one. I'm going to try to call my drs office tomorrow, hopefully they are open, and get in ASAP so she can take betas etc. It's way too early for an ultrasound so it will be a couple weeks before I really know anything.

When I decided to go back on bcp I was very sad that I wouldn't be giving my daughter a sibling. But I knew I was making the right decision. I am terrified that I will get horribly sick again and I don't know how I will take care of my daughter. I'm also terrified of having a new baby and a toddler. My fears are squashing any excitement I would otherwise be feeling.

Anyway, I have familiar faces on here (yay for your success!) and hello to the rest of you I haven't "met."

I guess we'll see what happens. I know every pregnancy is different so if this one sticks I am crossing my fingers hoping that this time I can have an easier go of it. If the universe is listening, it's just a small favor really. Pretty please.

I do think my daughter would make an awesome big sister. So let's hope for the best.

  • Congratulations and welcome :)  FX that this pregnancy will be different for you!  This is my first pregnancy but I went through a fear/panic stage at first too, and H was in total denial.  I think we both largely settled into our roles towards the end of the first trimester, though.
  • Welcome back and congrats! Hoping your pregnancy goes smoother this time around. I'm sure things will settle in soon. Good luck!

  • Congrats! I only really accepted this one in the last few weeks. We were TTC, but the m/s was horrendous and I sometimes found myself indifferent about the pregnancy. Plus I was so busy with the toddler that I didn't have time to focus on the positives. That is slowly changing. I've talked to others who have been in the same position, and everyone says they fell in love as soon as they met their LO. I'm sure it will be the same for you too!

How old is your toddler? How did you manage to take good care of a toddler while experiencing such horrible morning sickness? Because this is one of the things I fear. Mine was so horrible with my daughter I had to take Zofran through the entire first tri, and even then it didn't make it go away it just eased it a bit. And the Zofran contributed to an already horrible constipation problem...I will spare you the tmi of what I went through with that.

Hi there! I'm doing OK. My in-laws' assistance over the holidays has helped to reenergize me for taking care of DS. The toddler phase was sapping my energy in December.

We are in the eighth cycle of TFAS. FX this is my graduation month. :)>-

I hear you!!! My h is hardly home and I have no help whatsoever. Plus I have an extremely active one year old who always wants to go go go. This is one tired mama! I really hope she will hold on to two naps awhile so I have a chance to lay down myself when this gets really hard.

I hope this will be your month too, sending you good vibes!!
