Milk in a sippy... advice needed!

Wynn dropped the bedtime bottle with ease, but he will not drink milk from a sippy. I have tried serving it cold and warm and I have tried it in several different types of cups. I have also just tried giving it to him in a bottle at meal times just to transition him to drinking milk at meals, and then I would ultimately try to switch to a sippy after that. But he refuses to have the bottle with his meals. He only likes milk in a bottle by itself- away from the high chair.

Any advice? Anyone else in the same boat?

He eats a yobaby yogurt and a cheese stick just about every day. Sometimes he has a squeezer that has yogurt in it too.

  • I have still been giving Wynn a bottle when he wakes up in the morning and again as a snack later in the day, since he won't take it from a sippy.

I guess I need to call the doc/nurses hotline and see what they say. At the one year check up, my doctor didn't really mention bottles I don't think. He just said not to give him milk after he brushes his teeth.

One thing I haven't tried is the horizon milk cartons with a straw. Maybe he would like that.

  • @elvk583 smoothies are a good idea too
  • How long have you been trying no bottles?

  • @karadee1 I have offered him milk in a sippy here and there since 11.5 months (I was nursing and pregnant and trying to wean him straight from boob to sippy whole milk but he wouldn't take it). But I've only been trying 3 times a day for a week. He takes a sip, makes a face and throws it.
  • It might help to just eliminate the bottle altogether (During the day) and offer the sippy exclusively. That worked for us, on the third or so day G started taking to the sippy more. G is a healthy guy with no nutrition or weight gain issues, so I knew a few days of not enough milk was going to be ok for him. I did offer more dairy in other forms than he would normally get.

We kept the nighttime bottle during this transition so I knew he was getting that. G never took to the casual sippy use, he only started using it when it was his only option during the day.

Good luck, there are others going through this transition as well.
