Re: Horrible virus and being induced

  • Unfortunately, viruses have to run their course. What did your doctor say when he/she told you they planned on inducing while you're ill?

  • I cannot even imagine being in labor with what I am trying to get over right now. My OB literally recommended that I eat turnips as they have medicinal properties that get rid of the flu... I didn't try it because I was too exhausted to go any store and everyone else was busy with their Christmases. It's worth a shot. And yeah, does the doc know that u are ill? I was sick for 4 full days and I even had daymares of going into labor in that condition... ugh, gave me an anxiety attack. I hope u feel better before then!!

  • They didn't say anything about it really only a passing comment that it would be better if you wasn't I've been taking paracetamol and drinking lemon and hunny tea but it's not doing much
  • I can suggest drinking echinacea tea (follow the steeping directions on the box) and drink it with honey and lemon. Drink 6 mugs a day. Also up your vitamin C intake (I love EmergenC) and keep up with fluids (lots of water, like 12 8 oz glasses at least). Sleep and rest as much as you can. Also take a hot shower and cup your hands over your nose and put your face in the water stream and breath in the steam as deeply as possible, repeat as long as you like. If you have a sore throat gargle with warm salt water three times a day. I used to get sinus infections all the time and the above kept me going and the best outlook on healing quickly before an ear infection set in. I hope you recover in time for your induction!

  • Thanks I'll give those a go I have two days to get some what back to normal and am willing to do anything
  • Can they postpone it a few days?
  • Will your hospital electively induce while you're sick? I have been sick, too, and have a c/s scheduled for 12/31. My OB said the hospital would tell me to come back in a few days if I wasn't better by then, because they won't do elective surgeries while someone is sick. Unless it's really urgent, I don't see why your OB wouldn't wait a couple of days.
