We like the name Chesney for a baby girl because it's cute sounding and unique without being "made up" and very out there. What do you think, yes or no?
No we are not super fans at all. Her generation probably won't know who he is! Lol And lots of babies are being named famous last names: Presley, Kennedy, Paisley, Nixon etc. which is why I'm hoping Chesney won't be completely tied to the country singer. But thank you for the opinions I love hearing what others outside my inner circle think
Mmmmmm, well, as first names go it DOES sound made up. True it's Kenny Chesney's last name but IMO it sounds just as made up as Kinsley, Tinsley, Hensley, and all the other youneek names. It's not terrible but it's NMS.
This signature is all for YOU. I'm on mobile and can't see crap.
I don't care for it for a boy or a girl. I guess because my cousins dog is named that. It also reminds me of Kenny chesney and other things. But if you and your Dh like it then that's all that matters.

It's a girl!!! (:
Madison arrived on May 19th at 6:35 am (:
If my maiden name was Chesney I'd consider it as a first name just to carry over a family name (we're big on family names and names with meaning). It's NMS though, and we like some pretty unique names.

Nope. It may be cute on a little girl (to some people, I think its weird), but it won't be cute on a grown woman. Please don't do that to your daughter, I can't imagine trying to be taken seriously as a professional with that name.
To add, I do like last names as first names. DS is McKinnon and if LO is a boy he will be Hunter as its a family name. I just don't think Chesney is a last name that works as a first.

Your son's first name is McKinnon?

Yep. I wanted Mac and DH wanted to use his grandfathers middle name (McKinnon), I wouldn't have thought of it on my own, but it was important to DH and I got Mac as a nn so we used it. He goes by Mac 90% of the time. It's grown on me, but still wouldn't be my first choice of a name.

I'm married to a Mac. He's a McDonald, though.

I think it's cute. Not ever heard of any girl with that name. If you and your dh love it, it really doesn't matter what others think! Some people get waaaaayyyy wrapped around the axle when it comes to judging others baby name choices. Why it is such a big deal to them I'll never understand! But since you asked, like I said I think it's cute.
I would never share names with people because it's hard enough for DH and I to agree on something let alone other people too! But I personally do not like it for a boy ora girl. If it meant something special that may be a bit different.
FWIW I think everyone would jump on my name choices and tear them apart haha but they're each for very special reasons
I think it's cute for a young girl, but might sound kind of too cutesy in the adult professional world. Unless she's an entertainer.

@tiamiaxx I don't share mine with others either. Too much drama and unwanted opinions. You'll be hard pressed to find a large group of internet strangers that will all swoon over your choices because we are all so unique and have different preferences! The only advantage may be helping figure out any negative connotations that could possibly be associated with a name choice that you hadn't thought of!

The difference here is that she does want opinions form us. She specifically asked what we thought.
I think it would be a cute middle name, but as a first name I just picture a girl in a diner coming to a table saying "hey yall I'm chesney I'll be taking care of yall today"
Not hating on anyone working in food service in any way shape or form, just my first mental image of a girl with that name.
But for a middle name I think it would work with nearly any first name.

Well, since you asked, I don't like it at all. And I think when you tell people the name, you'll get "like Kenny?" a lot. But if that doesn't bother you, rock on.
Cute middle name if you really like it. It's not for me but not everyone has the same ideas as to what is cute and what is not. Like it has been said, otherwise people would be too alike in this world. That being said, the nickname thing will play a huge factor in my baby naming. I wouldn't want my daughter coming home being called chesty chesney.. or whatever kids think up..
I don't like it. There is nothing feminine about it, to me it's so ambiguous that it would leave me wondering if the name belonged to a girl or a boy then if Chesney was their first or last name. NMS.
Take my opinion with a grain of salt because I have an extremely high tolerance for unique/different names (though I get a little testy at weird spelling just for the sake of weird spelling) but I like it! I think it's cute and I think it will grow with her.

My maiden name is Chesney..I grew to enjoy it as an adult as people automatically think of Kenny and you must be related(grandpa was quite the ladies man,but can't prove a thing

Kennedy was a president, paisley is a pattern and not just the last name of a country singer, Nixon was also a president (and I've never met a person with a FN of Nixon - he's not really someone you aspire to). Presley is ... well, Elvis was one-of-a-kind.
Yes, ppl use last names as first names sometimes. Often b/c it's a family name. If it's not a family name, I'd at least want it to be someone you admire and who you'd like your child to have some connection to, even if it's tenuous.
Maybe if it was a different last name I'd like it, but not this one. And Kenny's been big for like 20 years, and he doesn't seem to be slowing down so I wouldn't assume no one will have heard of him.
