Cloth Diapering

NCDR strollers and reusable grocery bags.

Soon, I'll be selling my car and needing to walk to the grocery store, Target, drug store, etc.
The problem I for see is that one of our strollers has a one piece handle bar (no place to hang bags).  The other stroller is more of an umbrella style, and it's easy to hang bags on the handles, but it makes the stroller really tippy.
I like the look of these bags https://www.hatchthings.com/sureshop/
But $16 per bag seems like a heck of a lot.
I have a pair of the diaper bag hooks that velcro on to the frame of the stroller, has anyone had any luck using those for groceries?
I've also thought about trying to use the snap-press to make a snap on loop to keep the bottom of a reusable bag close to the stroller frame (which seems to be how the fancy bags work).

I'm not very good at sewing, so making an entirely DIY product is out of the question.
Also, I won't be using this set up for our big grocery shopping trips, just for trips to the farmers market, or a quick trip for a few grocery items.  The trip to the store will (hopefully) not be much more than a mile each way.
I know from experience that I can fit a gallon of milk in the basket under the stroller, but that takes up pretty much all the room.
Any ideas?  Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a couple of the bags from the website?

  • Yes...but wouldn't fix the the tipping issue?

This and using a decent stroller with a basket would help. I'd plan on going to the store mor often (less stuff to carry) and getting good reusable bags. I got pretty fab canvas bags off Amazon in sets of 3 for 25$. They are super sturdy, big, and the insides have pockets for things!

  • We have one that I can use in a similar way to the bag so that the stroller doesn't tip, and old school ergobaby backpack.
I don't really want to carry groceries in a backpack though, that seems like it'd be uncomfortable, plus the diaper bag would already be on my back.

Really I think I'm just looking for an excuse/justification to buy the bag from the website lol.
  • It might end up being cheaper for you to just strap the kid on you and use one of the granny styled carts. :P

  • too true lol
  • I always buy a lot more than I think I'm going to, so a big backpack works best for me.  I put a few things from the diaper bag in the front pocket and leave the large compartment open for groceries.  It's also a great workout carrying that extra weight while walking. :-)
  • I agree with @Chickypoo2468‌ I've never had a stroller tip with the child still in it, been a nanny for nine years and have literally used every stroller on the market. I just make sure to unload the items before getting the child out. I would just tie grocery bags to the handle.

I must just have an extra tippy stroller or a light kid then.
Lets just forget I asked....I was just looking for an excuse to buy a new bag.
  • Lurking and thought I'd throw out a suggestion... Doesn't help with tipping- sorry. But my absolute favorite reusable bags are by flip and tumble. They are available on amazon, all my friends talk about how great they are and have purchased them since seeing mine... They are great for carrying heavy loads on your shoulder too
