Earlier in the day I gushed in the FFFC thread about having the weekend to myself since DH took DS to Lubbock to visit family. Well, DH just called me and they are putting his grandfather in hospice this weekend. He has suffered from a number of strokes in the last year and has lost all ability to swallow food or liquid in the last week. I'm feeling pretty helpless, while my family is across the state and I know they could use some good vibes during this really difficult time. Not to mention, while all of this is happening, these people are helping to take care of my child. My doctors won't allow me to leave a 100 mile radius of the hospital because of some major bleeds I've had throughout this trimester. So here I sit....unable to comfort my family. It sucks.

Thinking of you and your family, especially your husband's grandfather. It must be horrible not to be able to do anything, but I'm sure you're supporting them as best as you're able from afar.

Thanks again, everyone. I just talked with my MIL (it's her father who is dying) and she seems really relaxed and at peace with the choice they've made. I'm really most concerned with her, she's been through a lot. My FIL left her for his mistress, then her oldest son died in a head on collision, and she lost her mother and second husband in a matter of 3 days. The thought of her having heartache around the holidays just makes me so sad. But she really seems to be doing alright.

Thank you. I just talked with my husband and the doctor called and told them they needed to get to the hospital immediately. His blood pressure dropped and he is having a really difficult time breathing. They've decided to keep him at the hospital and on morphine to stay comfortable. The probability of him making it through the weekend is not promising. For his sake, I hope he goes quickly and comfortably now that he's on the morphine.

T&P for you and your family. Morphine usually helps keep a person comfortable when they having trouble breathing. Only God knows how much longer he has, but I'm glad he's in a place where he can be kept comfortable. ((Hugs))

Just talked to DH and his grandfather passed away shortly before he called. I'm feeling really relieved that it happened quickly and he was surrounded by the ones who love him most. Thank you for your support and positive thoughts, they mean so much to my family as well as myself.
