My score was a whopping 192!!! I'm 16 weeks and dr wanted me to take the test because of sugars in my urine. I'm scared... My baby has been measuring big and I'm worried me might having GD is the reason.

Please share your experience.

Re: Failed 1 hour glucose test today - feeling worried

  • I failed mine almost every time. But passed the 3 hour one. I am hypoglycemic. I know plenty of friends who have had GD. Some just had to change their diet. A few needed medication. Don't sweat it just yet. One you figure out what you have our don't have the Dr will walk you through it.... And we will be here :)

  • I failed the 1-HR too. 167.
Passed 3 out of the 4 portions of the 3-HR.
Conclusion: Insulin resistant which I already knew without taking the test :P
I'm 31 with PCOS and He's 30 with no issues.

  • I failed woth my first at 149 and my second at 178 and this one 181. Doesn't matter how "badly" you fail it, you might just have it. If you can diet control it's really not bad. Good luck on your 3 hour!

  • I failed my one hour with one of my pgs. Turns out I didn't really think about their being a lot of sugar in the bagel I ate foe breakfast! Results will be much more accurate with the fasting and 3 hour test. No need for worry before that and like pp gd just means being vigilant about your diet etc. It's manageable!

Yep. My friend failed her one hour as well and guess what she had before the test? A bagel. For those who haven't taken it yet, take it early in the day and keep carbs/sugar to a minimum. Doctors won't tell you that because they want to get an accurate result without you adjusting your diet. To OP, don't worry just yet. Wait to see how the three hour turns out. Good luck :)

  • Try not to stress! There are quite a few of us GD moms on here for help and support :). Just follow your Dr's rx and you will be fine! My endocrinologist put it best...keeping your numbers balanced is important, but don't let it stress you out, enjoy your pregnancy.

You will likely have to take the 3 hour test, and if you fail that your doc will likely set you up with a nutritionist and an endocrinologist. They will give you all the guidelines you need and help you learn the ropes (like blood glucose testing). If you stay mindful and keep in good communication with your Drs. you and baby should be A-okay.

And we are always here to help!

I had GD with my first, didn't find out until 30 weeks, and she and I did fine...vaginal delivery at 40 weeks (nearly induced but only needed cervadil). She was 8lbs 2oz.
  • @Silv3rlining‌ My bad. I should have said some doctors don't tell you unless you were to specifically ask. What I mean is, it's not like the 3 hour test where you are told specifically to fast. My doctor didn't mention avoiding carbs, neither did my friend's doctor. I just think it's a good piece of information to know before going in to do the test, because it's obviously not common knowledge.

  • I failed my 1 hour at 26 weeks my last pregnancy and after doing the 2 hour at 28 weeks to follow up found out I didn't have it even though DS was also measuring a little big at that point. But I know people who have had it and just need to follow a diet plan, in the grand scheme of things it's a small amount of time to change!
  • I hate the taste of that. I have 3 daughters so I had to drink it 3 times. I'm gonna have to drink it again soon I'm due in June.
