crazy twin dreams - should I ask for u/s?

I keep having these crazy dreams where they missed twins on my u/s. Either I am delivering twins. Or something happens that I need an unplanned u/s and they find a second baby in there. I wake up and don't feel relieved or like it is just a dream. I wake up with anxiety and can't get it out of my head that the dreams might be right.

Just crazy dreams? Any other singleton mom's having these?

I am a FTM. My first and only u/s was at barely 7 weeks. I was relieved when there was just one baby that she showed me.

I am 15, almost 16 weeks now and have an appointment next friday. But no u/s until week 20..... should I ask for one just to alleviate my worries? Might stop the dreams if I can see it is truly just one bub in there....

Sorry if this seems stupid. It is 4am... have been up for 2 hours after another round of twin dreams, and figured coming here to seek support would help.

    I'd wait until your 20 week scan. I feel like a second sac would be hard to miss at 7 weeks. Also, maybe your so tormented by these dreams that before you're going to bed you think "I hope I don't have another twin dream" and it's on the forefront of your mind! That could be why you're having them so frequently!

    ET delayed due to OHSS 
    FET scheduled for July 8. Delayed due to a crazy high TSH (it had been under control for YEARS!)
    FET #1 8/5/14 sET BFN

    I've had dreams about having a litter of kittens, I wouldn't put too much stock in it. When you have your appt next week, your doc can use the Doppler - if she only finds one heartbeat, I'd let it go.

    Dreams are just dreams. I'd just wait on your scheduled U/S

    My last pregnancy they only saw one baby at my first ultrasound, then at my next appt they heard two heartbeats....did an ultrasound, twins.

    But OP, if there is two they may hear two heartbeats without needing an US...that being said, that's extremely rare & I'm sure you have a singleton. Good luck!

    I'd wait until your US, sounds like weird dreams are normal. :)

    I had a dream I was carrying an adorable gorilla baby in a blue onesie. It was one of my favourite dreams ever.

    I'd hold off until your anatomy scan, OP!

    Last Valentine's day . I bought my guy a stuffed gorilla with a hoodie. I was walking around with it and a woman asked to see my baby.... Lol if I knew how to post a picture from my phone I would show you.

    That gorilla dream sounds amazing. I wouldn't put too much stock in it OP. However if you really think it will calm your fears and give you better sleep at night it can't hurt to ask! All they can say is no.

    I found out I was having twins at 9 weeks. The ultrasound tech would have seen two, trust me- they are hard to miss, it was the first thing she said to me almost immediately after she started the ultrasound, she said she saw them both right away. I had a dream I gave birth to a piglet, it was so cute. Just ask at your 20 weeks ultrasound for them to double check and rest your mind.

    I dreamed i gave birth to a delicious looking chicken parm sandwich but i couldn't eat it because i didn't know where the tomato sauce ended and the blood began. Now THAT was a disturbing dream! I would much rather have reoccurring twin dreams!

    Let me start by saying that I do know someone who had a twin pregnancy diagnosed at like 16-18 weeks after having the second baby missed on an early scan.  This is a very unusual situation and if you had your u/s done in a decent facility, I would think that the chance of this happening to you is extremely low.

    If you had some other reason for suspecting twins, such as extremely high beta levels or rapidly increasing measurements, I might pursue an earlier scan.  But a dream?  No, I wouldn't.  Maybe the dream is just an expression of your anxiety about becoming a mother, feeling overwhelmed etc.  

    On the other hand, let's just imagine that your dream is correct.  What would you do differently at this late date?  And it would make a great story to tell you kids.

    5/2012 7w1d u/s: anembryonic demise; M/C @ 8w.
    6/2012 found Stage II/III endo on laparoscopy, removed w/ laser.

    Vacation, break, second opinions, on to new RE.
    1/2013 Surprise chemical pregnancy BFP #4 (break cycle), IVF #3 postponed.
    2/2013 TI w/ hormonal support, prednisone, aspirin, Lovenox, acupuncture gave us a miracle BFP #5!
    Heartbeat on U/S at 6w1d!     Baby,please stay!!
    Our miracle baby boy arrived 10/2013!  We are so in love!!

    10/2014 Surprise BFP #6
    Our second daughter arrived in May 2015!  We are so grateful!

    Lots of people here possibly giving birth to cats...at least it's not a butt baby.
